Firefox Portable

Current Version

Submitted by MukoCBX6 on March 13, 2010 - 10:18am

If there is a different maker of a portable FF I need to find it because this product's performance stinks to high heaven. I like the concept but not the result.

This version takes 3-5 minutes to load on a Win7 machine with 4g memory, using a brand new USB stick.

Then when finally loaded, clicking on a link gets a 'Not Responding' faded screen for 1-2 minutes. After the screen returns and finally get to a new page, clicking a new links gives the same result!

Is there a fix or do I have no choice but to quit using this product?

Profile Manager

Hi,

I really dig the portable apps on here, with no dependency on registry or windows system folders, any of that junk.

One thing I don't get is why the Profile Manager was removed from Firefox? It pretty much makes the portable version useless for me, since I have several profiles that I am using throughout the day depending on what I am doing.

The Profile Manager allows the users to create a new profile in any directory they choose. This should work just fine for making new profiles on a USB stick or anywhere else a folder can be created.

zero size downloads

when i click the link to download any of the versions of rkill from http://www.technibble.com/rkill-repair-of-the-week/ i get a zero size file in the target folder.
the links at technibble download from bleepingcomputer.
the FF download manager gives the message: canceled--bleepingcomputer.com.
other downloads give similar results.
the downloads work fine in opera 10.10.
i have been using FFportable for a long time and never had trouble until recently. i can't think of anything that i have changed recently.
i made a 2nd profile with no add-ons, same result.

FirefoxPortable 3.6 - Disable the "window add-ons"

Submitted by dgov on March 6, 2010 - 3:32pm

Hi everybody,
I made a web site which runs on a USB Key on FirefoxPortable 3.6.The application works well even if everything is burned on CD. I nevertheless face the problem that on launching FirefoxPortable.exe the "window add-ons" opens up automatically notifying the installation of the extentions.
Having said that, here is the question: Is it possible to disable the automatic startup of window add-ons(may be by working on the config file)?

Thanks for your help.

Bạn chỉ cần cài đặt Add-on tại: https://addons.mozilla.org/vi/firefox/addon/84469/

Firefox Portable Download --> Clamwin Portable Glue

How to get Firefox Portable to spawn Clamwin Portable on completion of a Download?

There is an existing add-on for firefox that looks for an installed ClamWin installation and calls ClamWin scanner:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/771

Any chance someone can update this for Firefox Portable + ClamWin Portable?

3.6 installation issues

Submitted by trathier on March 3, 2010 - 5:32pm

My firefox 3.6 install stopped working and upon investigation the firefoxportable.exe turned up missing. I don't know how or why. I downloaded the 3.6 install and re-installed yet the firefoxportable.exe does not extract. Manually extracting it gives a file error. Yes, I have already tried downloading it again on 2 other machines as well as installing to two other usb drives with the same results, no firefoxportable.exe.

Can someone send me the latest firefoxportable.exe?
