Bad Update!

I updated to the new version, and now the damned thing won't even run.
It's either the firefox update itself, or the flash player update that I got before I restarted firefox (did not come back up). Both were gotten from legitimate sources.

Security Zone Settings with Portable Firefox

Submitted by n8 on March 30, 2010 - 3:28pm

Good afternoon,
I am using Firefox 3.6 Portable. It appears that it is not honoring my Internet Zone settings in the Restricted Sites zone. My understanding is that Firefox 3.0 and above leverage the OS settings.

Can someone shed some light into this matter? Is the portable version different in some way with respect to this issue?

Thank you,
n8

Just wondering if it is possible to copy my Firefox Portable settings for add-ons search plugins and such to my desktop version of Firefox. this way they would both look the same. Hard to remember what add ons I have installed into the Portable vs the Hard drive versions. Looks to me like if i copt the following from Portable FF to FF I should be ok?

PreserveDirectory1=App\Firefox\plugins
PreserveDirectory2=App\Firefox\searchplugins
PreserveDirectory3=App\Firefox\components

Installing Tor

Submitted by anon_private on March 28, 2010 - 7:37am

I have downloaded portable FF and have installed the Tor Button.

I now need to connect to the Tor network.

Can someone tell me what plugin I need, or any other method.

Is Tor, the best choice?

Thanks

What is flashplayer.xpt for?

Submitted by portablealpha on March 27, 2010 - 4:16pm

I've been using (and updating) flash player successfully for a while now by copying just the NPSWF32.dll file to my FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins directory.

From what I've read on forums, though, you're also supposed to copy the flashplayer.xpt file. But mine works fine without it. So what does the .xpt file do exactly? Just curious. Thanks.

Edit: Could it be that the .xpt file is necessary, but FFP is reading it from the Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash directory (while reading the updated .dll from the portable directory)?

Firefox cache

My concern is I want to minimize read-writes to the EeePC 900 netbook SSD.

I understand any browser caches a lot. I don't have Bookmarks caching webpages or favicons, however, there are so many things a broswer will cache.

My question is: does Portable Apps Firefox cache to the SD card?

I have my Portable Apps on a SD card.
