v3.5.1 clears cookies

Submitted by soibangla on July 30, 2009 - 1:16pm

Apparently v3.5.1 clears cookies on shutdown for sites that I have saved in tabs as my "home pages." I have not set FF to clear anything on shutdown. All cookies are not cleared, just for sites that I have saved in tabs as my "home pages."

Losing my settings

Submitted by jjohnson2499 on July 30, 2009 - 12:34pm

For the last couple of days everytime I open up firefox I have to reset my proxy settings and other settings like what application to use to open what file type. Any idea of what is going on. I haven't changed anything or updated FF, so I don't know why all the sudden its doing this.

Creating your own Portable Mozilla Firefox 3.0.12 with PortableApps.com Installer

Submitted by ZhouYu on July 29, 2009 - 10:15am

1. Download and perform a fresh installation for the original Mozilla Firefox 3.0.12
2. Download and extract PortableApps's Mozilla Firefox 3.0.11 into a temporary directory, say C:\FirefoxPortable
3. Copy and overwrite everything from C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox into C:\FirefoxPortable\App\Firefox
4. Edit C:\FirefoxPortable\App\AppInfo\appinfo.ini and change PackageVersion and DisplayVersion to 3.0.12.0 and 3.0.12 respectively. Save the changes
5. Download and install the PortableApps.com Installer from https://portableapps.com/apps/development/portableapps.com_installer

Any plans for Firefox 3.0.12 Portable Edition?

Submitted by ZhouYu on July 25, 2009 - 11:40pm

Thanks for the development of this great Portable Edition as it allows me to run more than 1 instance of Firefox on my computer.

As Firefox 3.5 is out, do we have plans to continue the development of the Portable Edition of Firefox 3.0? I usually use the old version until it goes End Of Life.

The reason I'm asking is because I've been waiting for close to a week now for its release. Usually it comes out without a day or 2 after the main Firefox release.

Thank you

HELP!

Submitted by Juluo2 on July 25, 2009 - 11:19am

Hello I have a serious problem!
I installed recently the software Firefox Portable Apps in a file.
Not being used to me as Firefox Portable Apps I removed the file!
But I use another software which is connected to Internet and with each time it is connected it shows me the splash of Firefox Portable Apps and says to me that a text in .ini is not findable and Internet does not launch!
Can you help me?
It is important!

Thanks!

How to get firefox to see MS java?

Submitted by Kermode on July 23, 2009 - 9:11am

Hi,

After having installed XP and applied service pack 1/2 there is some sort of java present - not sure if its sun or microsoft.
But if i use IE to go to a website requiring java it works - but if i use Portable firefox it says i must download a java plugin.

Isn't there some (easy) way to get it to see the already working java on the system?

(I prefer NOT to install suns java, too big and somewhat unnecessary since there already is a java on the system)

Firefox portable doesn't work

Submitted by Artemis777 on July 23, 2009 - 1:20am

I keep getting the following error with Firefox Portable:

The application had problem and crashed.

Unfortunately the crash reporter is unable to submit a report for this crash.

Details: The application did not identify itself.

I don't claim the bad grammar; that is how the error was written. My regular firefox works fine. I was able to use the portable version previously. I deleted it and downloaded it again, but it only worked one time. I keep getting this same error every time. Please tell me what I need to do to get this to work right. Thanks!

FF 3.5.1 Low Memory

Submitted by foxcole on July 22, 2009 - 9:47pm

Perhaps you might consider temporarily removing FF updates 3.5x from the PortableApps offerings.

Firefox 3.5 and 3.5.1 have a pernicious memory leakage, not attributed to any add-ons but to Firefox itself, where it constantly causes Warning: Low Memory warning messages and most of Firefox's functionality stops. Scripts stop running and the computer system can no longer properly display the Firefox browser window or message windows.

For more details, search the Mozilla Firefox forum for "Warning: Low Memory".
