How do you install the Shockwave plugin on FF Portable with no admin rights?

Submitted by cmillermo on May 28, 2009 - 5:31pm

I've been wanting to install the shockwave plugin for firefox, but I don't have admin rights. I have access to a computer that has admin rights, if that helps. When I searched for ways to install the plugin it said that I had to redirect the installer or something to FFP, i can't do this. Thanks

Cleaning up Firefox Portable and reimporting Passwords and Bookmark question

Submitted by itenospa on May 25, 2009 - 7:00am

Hi everybody,

I'm using Firefox portable since many years now and have been always very happy with it. During all those years, my Profile folder grew to the incredible size of 550MB!! I'm not really sure what's in there so I thought of getting rid of everything by installing a new fresh copy and transferring just my password file and my bookmarks.
Unfortunately doing some search here on this site I just found the suggestion to copy the whole Profile folder in order to transfer settings, but that's exactly what I do not want to do, just passwords and bookarks are ok.

MultipleFirefoxLoader.exe missing

Submitted by LionAM on May 24, 2009 - 5:47pm

Hello,
in older versions of PortableFirefox, there was the
file MultipleFirefoxLoader.exe where you could start
multiple instances of Firefox (with different profiles).
In the new version, it is missing.

Can I download it anywhere?

Now, you can start multiple windows with the same profile,
which is really nice, as this was not possible with the
old version (for example when a download was running and
you wanted to reopen firefox) - but you cannot start firefox
when another instance (with another profile) is running.

Make Java work?

Submitted by SofiaAgapao on May 24, 2009 - 11:42am

Hello, I am running Firefox Portable and trying to get Java to work. It works perfectly in Internet Explorer; I just prefer to use FF. Based on advice from other sites, I tried opening the control panel, going to Advanced, and checking the Mozilla Family option under Default Java for Browsers. But every time I click "Apply" and then "Okay" it seems to reset itself. In other words, every time I check to see that the option has been enabled, the Mozilla Family option is unticked. I've tried choosing the option several times, but it keeps resetting.

problem with bookmark addons in Portable Firefox 3.0.10

Submitted by raza on May 24, 2009 - 3:47am

I am having a problem since upgrading to Portable FF 3.0.10. My Gbookmarks button does not display the bookmarks anymore. When I try to log in through the button I get an error message saying ‘could not log in, check password’. But, if I go to Google page and then log in from there I am able to log in. After that clicking on the bookmarks button shows that I am logged in, but it does not display the bookmarks. I have tried to remove and uninstall the button and I have tried using another button called 'Deng Google Bookmarks' but all have the same problem.

Please help.

Javascript is too fast how do I slow it down? Also FireFox sometimes doesn't close and I need to kill the process.

The javascript is greatly accelerated for some reason. It runs faster than any other browser, but doesn't load faster if you know what I mean. And that is Google chrome is faster at loading, but runs at the intended speed. While FireFox runs the script as fast as possible. So, how can I slow it down to get java based web apps to run as intended. Also I think this could be a problem with flash instead of jave, but I don't know.
