Firefox Portable

Surf like Ninja & Hide Your IP and such strange things

Submitted by Curious on June 15, 2008 - 2:53am

Well, I just wonder if it is possible to "test" such "masked" things in Firefox Portable (and ONLY in Portable).

I like to make a joke with friends. Pretend that I write from a address in China or USA.

(Not for anything criminal) Believe me or not Wink

But I do not want my PC to be slow or funny-working.

And I have no knowledge with these things

So do you know of some "fake" programs, who work in Firefox Portable?

Yes. Strange Quistion. I admit that!

Bookmarks toolbar

I have Firefox 3 rc 2 installed and I use bookmarks toolbar for my rss feeds. I have PortableApps.com, Lifehacker and Firefoxes updated add-ons page bookmarked as rss feeds. The Firefox site and Lifehacker site rss feeds update daily, but the PortableApps feeds do not. My feed shows VLC portable 0.8.6h, as the latest app to be updated on the site. This was the feed shown, when I updated to rc 2 from rc 1. LBreakout, and the Sourceforge nomination haven't came up yet. Is this a problem with my FF 3 or with the webpage, how do I correct it?

[HOW-TO] Auto-scan downloaded files with ClamWin Portable

Hello everyone,

I am a daily user of the PortableApps platform, and I was wondering if it was possible to somehow use ClamWin Portable to scan downloaded files from Mozilla Firefox Portable.

I know there is no possibility to do so in a vanilla Mozilla Firefox installation, but there is an extension called "Download Statusbar" which has an anti-virus command-line capability after each download.

I was wondering

FF Auto downloaded

Submitted by DADSGETNDOWN on June 14, 2008 - 5:19am

Hello, I am using FF portable 2.0.0.12.
I was cruising the web and just as I finished it said that updates,
were downloaded, I didn't want to let it install, so I told it no or later, I clicked an X if it was available I can't remember that.
BUT, after that it said it would install the next time FF was
started.
How can I delete the file/S that were downloaded so i can do it
myself ?...before I start FF.

I also checked my settings before I shut down, and it was not
suppose to download, it was only suppse to "ask me" what to do.

I don't and never have had a "Local" copy of FF.

2 beginner quistions

I have Firefox 2.0.0.14 on my PC as default browser.

Will that conflict with the portable versions of Firefox?

Or - should I use Internet Explorer instead as default?

... well I hornestly prefer Firefox ...

- but will awoid conflicts and so on, if there is such ????? -

2:
Is there Danish language pack for older versions of Firefox Portable?

If I want to try the oldest or someone else, who not are 2.0.0.14 or the latest 3 beta

Good evening
Hmmmmm, I can´t find those files to replace the "en-us.alf" & "en-us.dic" file
- who I found easy on the portable edition.

1. Install Firefox Portable to your portable device as outlined on the support page
2. Delete all the files within the FirefoxPortable\App\firefox\ directory
3. Copy your local Firefox files to that same directory (you can usually find them in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\ ).
4. Use Firefox Portable as normal

Portable Firefox 3 RC2 Performance Issues

Submitted by mbe on June 11, 2008 - 11:43am

To echo other commenters, I find FF3 RC2 much slower than FF2. I have a pretty fast USB flash drive, based on what I've read. It's the Patriot Xporter XT. FF2 (2.0.0.14) runs lickety-split. FF3 RC2 runs like a dog through molasses. Disk caching is turned off. Pipelining turned on. No saving of passwords. Fewer add-ons than I have on FF2.

I have not turned off remembering history and form fields. How much resources and disk accesses do those consume?
