Hi

- Windows media player
Thanks you
I have a major inconvenient using portable firefox. I don't know if everyone has the same lack. When I use it from my usb device it works intermitently... I mean with some seconds delay when I can't do anything, and then suddenly it works again. Is this normal???
I've been working on packaging a website on a CD that will work as many computers as possible. I chose to use Firefox portable since it doesn't send up scary looking security warnings like IE7 does when loading local flash content.
I've been able to get a Firefox Portable live CD working successfully in Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista using the instructions posted on this site. Just pop the CD in and it loads just fine and points to page specified in the FirefoxPortable.ini file under "LocalHomepage="
I'm not trying to beat a dead horse and would like to avoid the acrimony that surrounded the previous post on this topic (https://portableapps.com/node/7439), but I wanted to revisit the issue of slow bookmark updates.
The USB drive speed seems to be a significant factor, but in my own personal tests (identical bookmarks.html file on multiple fast/reliable USB 2.0 drives), the bookmarks.html file itself makes a big difference.
What I'm wondering:
I am new to PortableApps and have some questions.
I have moved Firefox and Thunderbird profiles to FF Portable and TB Portable, and it works. But is there an easy way to keep bookmarks, settings, mail etc updated on the portable FF and TB? Also the other way around, if I add a new bookmark to FFP how can I sync this to FF? Or if I download a new mail to TBP how can I sync this to TB?
Thanks
This is a little odd. I'm running FF Portable on my PC, and don't even have the regular FF installed. When I open FFP normally, everything works normally. But when I click on a shortcut without opening FFP first, a generic, non-portable (and non-customized) FF window opens up. Any idea why this is happening and how I can fix it so that shortcuts open in my usual FFP app?
I can launch Thunderbird or firefox from any computer, even at work with a firewall. However only one app at a time, when one is open opening the other will give an error message that it is already running. I have tried this on Vista and win2K with the same results.
Insatall OK. Loads OK. Get message "Unable to connect, FF can not establish connection to the server".
FF runs great on my Harddrive. Prior to upgrading to vista I ran it from several USB flash drives w/o a problem. In fact all portable browsers (Opera, Maxthon) present the same problem. What do I need to do?
I'm using FireFox Portalbe v 2.0.0.8 on a Kingston DataTraveler 1GB USB Flash Drive.
I noticed that FireFox "hangs" quite a bit on one of my workstations. I experienced this problem on FireFox v2.0.0.6, so I upgraded to FireFox Portable v2.0.0.8 yesterday. I did not remove/reinstall.
I use FireFox on 3 workstations. Two of the workstations have USB 2.0 interfaces and the IBM T30 Laptop has a USB 1.0 interface. On one workstation I noticed the "hanging" programs (Thunderbird hangs too) and found it irritating.
