Accents problem

Submitted by Tartulho on January 27, 2007 - 5:09am

Hi!

I'm having trouble with accents, they don't get displayed correctly when I type them. For eg., this should be an e acute: ´´e

I'm using FF 2.0 but this also happened on v1.5.X

I tried to change the character encoding but the results are the same (tried western 8859-1 and 15 and some others from south Europe).

Thanks for any help!

small question

Submitted by Green Hat Linux on January 26, 2007 - 5:22pm

what would it take to change the external (and possibly internal) names of Firefox Portable?

the reason i am asking is that as of today, when i try to load FfP at school, everything loads well, and just as it finishes loading my home page, FfP terminates, i am 99% positive that this is because of some new script that the school has added to the systems, most likely some sort of simple "target and terminate" app that only looks for firefox.exe and the like in the processes list and could be fooled by renaming it, how hard would it be to change it? thank you.

The following extensions are incompatible with Firefox Portable for various reasons:

  • Uses hard-coded paths
    • ASpell
    • Flashgot
    • Footiefox
    • Quicknote
  • Writes to flash drive excessively
    • FEBE
    • Google Browser Sync
    • Tab Mix Plus (with session-saving and/or undo-close-tabs on)
  • This list is in need of improvement. Please post any others below.

    FFP 2.0 startup Issues...

    Submitted by unleashd on January 24, 2007 - 11:26am

I've now been using the Portable version of FF for a while now. First the various 1.5x versions and then upgraded to FF2. It was smooth sailing all the way for the past few months. I never had anything to complain about. Everything was working fine yesterday when I left from work. Except that this morning, when I plugged in my USB stick (Its a 512M Sandisk Cruzer mini) to startup FF, it would not come up at all. The Portable app startup screen shows and then ......nothing.....:(

    Cursor falls behind text

    Submitted by trump on January 22, 2007 - 2:31pm

This is an odd error that I have been getting using Firefox Portable and MobileFirefox before that. It's the oddest thing, but when I type in a field within Firefox Portable, it seems like occasionally the cursor "falls behind" for a character. So I'll be typing along and then it will fall backwards one space so that it in effect pushes one letter out of my text.

Moving Tab bar in portable FireFox

    Submitted by Privateer570 on January 22, 2007 - 10:18am

    Hi all,

I have just downloaded a swathe of portable apps but am having minor trouble with FireFox - I want to move the tabbar down to the bottom of the page as I have my home PC's firefox.

I have tried downloading the extension TabBrowserPreferences from the Mozilla page but that either does not complete the small 201kb download (hanging on 164kb done) or when it tries to install it says not firefox 2.0 compatible (which the developer promises is not the case).
Alternatively, I have tried making a userchrome.css file with the following:
/* Display the tabbar at the bottom */

    Skitzo FireFox

    Hi Guys,

I was wondering if people could give me some feedback on an issue Im seeing with FireFox it is damn freaky. To give you some background I had FireFox installed on my work machine and at home. Then the IT department in work got their knickers in a twist about having FireFox installed on machines (the genius's actually suggested using IE-7 if we wanted tabbed browsing) so I had to remove it. This is when I switched to portable FireFox.
