disabling "do you want to update" box

Submitted by lavaboy on January 15, 2007 - 12:24pm

is there any way of disabling the box which comes up and asks me if i want to update firefox? normally it appears when i´m mid-typing and i automatically select "yes" without wanting to. this then slows everything down and also makes me reinstall firefox because the update inevitably doesn`t work.

especially annoying when the current version of firefox portable is being used!

thanks for any help

Some Sites doesn't be loaded

Submitted by pinguin on January 15, 2007 - 2:26am

Hi,

i had some trouble with my FF Portable.

FF runs on an USB Stick behind a Proxy and Firewall. My Networksetting are over a automatic Proxyconfiguration.

Some site, e.g. heise.de mail.google.com and so on, dosen't be loaded. Over the local IE does it. The Proxy is for IE the same. So the Proxy isn't the problem.

Anybody an idea whats the problem is?

I did not find any similarities of the pages wich dind't be show.

Thanks and sorry for the bad english Wink

EDIT:

John, how come you don't use this instead of firefox.

If you could only make it a little faster.

-Thanks

No File Dialog in Windows 2000

Submitted by e_ostrowski on January 13, 2007 - 8:27am

There is a very strange behaviour of Portable Firefox 2 concerning file opening dialogs: they don't appear. First I thought it is a Firefox 2 issue because Portable Firefox 1.5 does not offer this bug. But let me first describe what I have tested and which software I use:
The FirefoxPortable.exe has version 1.2.1.1
Firefox has version 2.x (version doesn't matter, because it isn't a Firefox issue)
OS is Windows 2000 SP4
All the Software copied to a Memorex 1GB Traveldrive endowed with NTFS.

1. Running FirefoxPortable.exe with the FirefoxPortable.ini

RoboForm2Go Doesn't run under Firefox Portable?

Submitted by Themus on January 11, 2007 - 9:10pm

Hello,

I am on a quick learning curve here.

I have Any Password on my portable apps drive, but need a "plug-in" or extension so that FireFox portable will allow me to login like RoboForm does for my PC with Internet Explorer.

I put Robform2go on my USB key, both in the root of the USB key {its default} as well as moved it to Portable Apps directory {where it won't run because the path isn't in the root}.

In either case, the interface and toolbar doesn't show up in Firefox portable.

How does portable firefox work?? does it leave recoverable data

Submitted by mvarone on January 11, 2007 - 5:30pm

Hi I have been trying to find information on how portable firefox works. I have serached many forums and have come up with nothing.

I am refering to if the app leaves recoverable data. As you are browsing does it write temp to the drive? and if so upon exit does this mean the data is still present and the only way to truly remove data is by erasing free space???

If anyone knows the answers to these questions please advise.

Cheers

Update to Firefox Portable 2.001 (auto update?) does not work with Login King 2007

Submitted by jkeifer3 on January 11, 2007 - 8:27am

Greetings to all as this is my first time on the forum. Earlier today, when I launched a Firefox Portable session via Login King, I got a message alerting me to a new version of Firefox being available (v2.001). Must be a maintenance release but I installed it anyway. Now the interface to Login King is defunct in that the id's and passwords are no longer automatically filled in.

Anyone experience this and have any ideas about how to proceed? Thanks in advance and have a happy New Year!

Joe
