FirefoxPortable.exe blocked

Submitted by PainKiller on October 13, 2006 - 3:31pm

Well, at my school running FirefoxPortable.exe is blocked, however I'm still able to run firefox.exe, I was just wondering if there would be any drawbacks to running that directly, like if it might take away some of the portable aspects?

Well, sorry for the stupid question, but thanks for anyone that helps!

Shockwave install made easy

Submitted by thatguy2223 on October 13, 2006 - 12:11pm

I made this installer by extracting the Shockwave Installer and moving the files manually into my Portable Firefox Plugins folder.

My reason for making this installer is so that users without Administrative Privileges can install the plugin hassle free.

You can download the installer from

It is verified virus free and adware free

FFP not recognizing restart, and other problems.

Submitted by Shadowsquall19 on October 11, 2006 - 12:53am

I have FFP 1.5.0.7 and to run FFP i have to open the file twice to start FFP. and after closing firefox i open task manager and FFP is still running after FF closes, i think this is related to FFP not recognizing that firefox hasn't restarted, also the themes are not applied after it is 'restarted'. i tried something that was in another post i deleted extension.rdf and that seems to have fix some of the problems up. but there is still the fact that Firefoxportable doesn't close by it's self. can you help me?

enable default browser check

Submitted by sheepdog on October 10, 2006 - 5:57pm

I know that the default browser check is intentionally disabled in the portable version of firefox. Neverthless I would like to enable this check.

The reason: I do use the portable firefox located on a normal HD of my PC. The advantage is, that I can run it in several different OS- Installations. So I do have usually 3 or more installations of Windows on my PC that reside on different partitions. With Portable Firefox I won't have to configure the whole bookmarks etc. after a fresh install but can use immedately the familiar Firefox.

But I'm tired of setting firefox manually several times as default browser after some testings or Updates when IE has set itself to the standard browser again.

Portable Launcher 1.3.1 - Problem setting UserProfileDirectory

Submitted by space cadet on October 10, 2006 - 12:55pm

Does the new 1.3.1 launcher not support

UserProfileDirectory=Data\userprofile

as a Userprofile setting in the firefoxportable.ini?

In the past I have used this as an INI:

[PortableFirefox]
FirefoxDirectory=App\firefox
ProfileDirectory=Data\profile
PluginsDirectory=Data\plugins
UserProfileDirectory=Data\userprofile
AdditionalParameters=
AllowMultipleInstances=true
SkipChromeFix=false
SkipCompregFix=false
WaitForFirefox=false
FirefoxExecutable=firefox.exe
DisableSplashScreen=true
LocalHomepage=

I would like to use the UserProfileDirectory option in the new launcher as well.
