Portable FF on PC

Submitted by Jack852 on August 7, 2013 - 10:26pm

Situation:
I installed Portable Firefox 11 on my computer (Win 7) at work. I used the portable version because I don't have admin rights to install the regular version. The installation location is in a folder on my desktop. An industrial supply site that I visit quite often now won't display their catalog pages due to a Java update requirement. I attempted to update Java, but it is saying that my FF 11 is no longer supported.

Question:

How to retrieve a previous version of Firefox Portable

Submitted by abertuzzi on August 2, 2013 - 3:01am

Hi,
I need a previous version of Firefox Portable (e.g. version 19.0).
The link to download Firefox Portable included in the page for Firefox Portable 19.0 leads to the download page for current version (22).
How can I currently retrieve Firefox Portable version 19.0?
Many thanks,
Armando

".url" files

I've many ".url" files on my HDD, and noticed that:
by exetute them, Firefox opens without load my profile.
BTW, if Firefox is already opened, the url loads as usual on new tab.

I think ".URL" are assigned to
"C:\Program files\Mozilla Firefox\App\Firefox\firefox.exe"
instead of
"C:\Program files\Mozilla Firefox\FirefoxPortable.exe"
, but on my XP I can't see a "Open with" option to redirect them.

Disappearing extensions

Firefox 23 Portable, currently beta 7.

Hi, I've discovered a curious issue that occurs if I delete the contents of my FF portable directory and then replace with a spare copy which I previously copied out.

This is something that I do so I can check out various extensions and if I don't like them or they don't work or whatever, then I have a backed up copy of FF portable to restore, rather than uninstalling extensions which I'd rather not do.

Unable to update/install FF 22

I had an older FF Portable installed, but I think it got partially wiped when I had update problems a while ago. I am still having problems.

I am using PA on a local hard drive, Win XP SP3. Partway through the installation I get dialogs about inability to write to various .dll files in the directory:
D:\download\Software\PortableApps-installedapps\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\App\firefox

I find that directory to be ReadOnly and the properties show 0 files and 0 folders. I cannot change the ReadOnly status from the Properties box.
