Firefox Portable

Firefox 17.0

Submitted by AthurLL on November 28, 2012 - 7:23am

There seems to be a problem with the latest version of FF 17.0 in that you can edit your cookie settings and exceptions and that the profile database for such settings isnt retaining the information. Apparently it throws it out as a bug and ignores the error so nothing is seen just the entry is deleted.

I have noticed this occuring when logging into several forums and it accepts and logs me in then reloads the page but Iam logged out. I have altered several settings within FF and it still occurs.

Can't compile FF Portable Source Code

Submitted by digitalcre8 on November 24, 2012 - 4:44pm

I'm learning portable apps coding so I decided to try something basic: I installed FF Portable and deleted the FireFoxPortable.exe to see if I could use the source code to recreate it. I have the PortableLauncher Generator and NSIS Unicode installed, but when I use the Launcher Generator to to recreate a working exe file, opening FireFoxPortable.exe shows an error app/appinfo/launcher/FireFoxPortable.ini is missing. That's odd, because FF Portable doesn't install that folder or file.

What am I missing here?

Downgrade due to addon-issues - howto?

Submitted by Mister Smith on November 22, 2012 - 12:54am

Due to many problems with my favorite addons, I've decided to downgrade to a previous FireFox version. Please could anyone be so kind to give me a link, where I can dowload the PortableApp FireFox v16.0.2 (am I right, that this one is the latest v16 Release?).

Looking into the download-section, I've only found elder versions. Further I wanna know, if there could occure any problems with my profile when downgrading to a previous major release?

Many thanks in advance

Flash Install not Working....

Submitted by spazstic on November 21, 2012 - 4:36pm

Can't get Flash working for the life of me... Here is what I've done:

  • Copied NPSWF64_11_3_300_257.dll and flashplayer.xpt to both:

    • \PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\App\DefaultData\plugins
    • \PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins

(I saw a few mentions of the \data\plugins folder in the forums, so I created the \data\plugins folder since it didn't exist)

  • After the above didn't work, I changed plugin.scan.plid.all from true to false, to force Firfox to look solely in the plugins folder.

probllems with addons

Submitted by joergens.mic on November 21, 2012 - 7:08am

I've a problem to access the addons page ''STRG-SHIFT-a''. Neither with the menu nor with the shortcut. Everything was working fine until I upgraded to version 17.0. In the help ''about firefox'' the version 17.0 is displayed. Any idea how to correct that. I'm admin in this account on my computer and I'm working with Windows 7 home porfessional 64Bit.

Runing Firefox Portable at the same time as running Comodo IceDragon (portable), is it a bad idea?

Submitted by Grantwhy on November 20, 2012 - 11:36pm

Running Firefox Portable at the same time as running Comodo IceDragon (portable), is it a bad idea?

Comodo IceDragon is a web browser that is based on Firefox, and it can be installed portably.

(Comodo IceDragon homepage http://www.comodo.com/home/browsers-toolbars/icedragon-browser.php)

I know there are reasons why Firefox Portable won't launch/run when another instance of Firefox is running (local or portable), but it will launch/run when an instance of Comodo IceDragon portable is already running.

Firefox Portable Plugins: PDF-XChange Viewer Addin update (DEMO Version problem)

Submitted by ChrisW on November 19, 2012 - 5:24am

I'd like to give this information here, because I searched for months for a solution and only now found the way for this user case:
Firefox Portable (v16.0.2)
PDF-XChange Viewer (v2.5.207) with Addin for Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Chrome

I updated both Firefox and PDF-XChange regularly, but while the Addin was functioning correctly for some time since some months (or a year?) opening PDF files in Firefox Portable showed them with a annoying red "DEMO Version,www.docu-track.com, Tracker Software" across every page.
