Does not log in to Newsserver, does not ask for password

Submitted by L.Willms on August 17, 2007 - 10:11am

I have registered for the CNNTP.ORG Newsserver, and this requires authentification with user-id and password.

The login is rejected. Portable Thunderbird does not ask me for a password and I see no way to configure a password.

I know that this is probably not specific to the PortableApps version of Thunderbird, but I have this beast installed only to have access to a newsreader.

Or does somebody know some other newsreader which can be used in the Portable way, i.e. without needing anything from the PCs registry, SYSTEM32 etc, and not leaving traces on the PC?

Cheers,
L.W.

Moving TP folder it loses some "piece" of profile

Submitted by luis69 on August 16, 2007 - 6:49pm

Hello,

a couple of weeks ago I decided to move from Eudora to Thunderbird Portable.

As a first step I installed it on my internal D: drive.

For the last two weeks I've been using TP, learning about it and tuning it for my needs.

Today I've decided to move it to my USB flash drive (M: is the drive letter). I've simply copied the full D:\"myPath"\ThunderbirdPortable\ folder to M:\"anotherPath"\ThunderbirdPortable\

Then I launched the application from the new location. Something strange happens, it looks like it doesn't keep the full profile.

Local Port 25 "stolen" by Thunderbird

All,

Running TB Portable and MiniRelay USB SMTP http://www.blat.net/miniRelay/
. When TBP isn't up and I do a telnet localhost 25. It connects to the minirelay. When I start TBP my connection is lost. When I do another telnet I connect to the following WebMail ESMTP. This I think is the 'Hotmail WebMail TB extension. If I restart my TBP several times the connection to minirelay sticks.

Under my account settings everything is set to use my localhost ie minirelay.
I've the latest version of the webmail extension http://webmail.mozdev.org/installation.html

thunderbird doesnt recognize existing account

Submitted by footmechanic on August 8, 2007 - 7:37am

Hi,
I am very pleased with the thunderbird portable!!!
But since two days (after upgrading) thunderbird doesnt recognize my existing account, and wants to create a new account everytime when opening. I checked the folder data/profile/mail, and thunderbird just keeps adding new accounts, while the original with all the mails is still there. What can I do?
Even when renaming the original folder to the new created one, it doesn t work.

Problemas para conectar mediante proxy a mail.riseup

Submitted by kanmul on August 7, 2007 - 2:16pm

Cannot connect to GMail since upgrading

Submitted by TCndaHouse on August 7, 2007 - 6:50am

I have recently upgraded to the latest version of Thunderbird Portable and since then I cannot connect to my GMail to pull my mail down into Thunderbird.

I can connect to the internet without any issues but it is not connecting to my GMail accounts to pull in my emails for my personal account an one for my business account.

Has anyone had this issue or is experiencing this issue.
