Local folders and other folders

Submitted by sheila9 on June 5, 2008 - 11:21pm

When in accounting settings, Local Folders-- Local directory is ../Mail/Local Folders, my mail folders under this Local Folders show mail.
When ../Mail is the Local directory instead of Local Folders, the mail folders won't show any mail.

But I've several accounts whose folders are parallel with Local Folders. I can't view them in TBP any more, because Local Folders is the top root folder.

Prior to this, I could view all my accounts' folders parallel to Local Folders.

I wonder if someone knows how to get it to work?

Thanks.

Is a 1.x Version of Thunderbird Portable Still Available?

Submitted by Bulldog on June 5, 2008 - 8:06pm

I'm not looking to make any trouble here. I was using a 1.x version of Thunderbird Portable (1.5 I think) and it worked great. Today I did a clean install of TP 2.0.0.14 (deleted 1.x and installed 2.0.0.14) and it's just not working out.

Can I still get my hands on an installer for 1.x?

All account profile is gone.

I tried to open TB portable, but instead of the familiar prompt to ask me to enter my master password, it asks me to create either an email or newsgroup account.

I checked the data path and all my local mail folders are there, but it seems that the account profiles are corrupted or messed up.

I wonder if this is a known issue? Any way to get out of it to recover my account settings?

My TB portable is version 2.0.0.14 (20080421).

Thanks.

Gmail - POP3 of IMAP

I cant activate IMAP in thunderbird.

Is IMAP better Than POP3 or is it not so good in this portable version.

I was told that IMAP does not save the mail into thunderbird(TP). so with TP you cant take unread mail with you and you cant read it offline. i need to do this. I am Using Dial-up.

So is it POP3 or IMAP???

Let me know any thoughts you have.

Thunderbird Writes to TEMP Folder...how to stop?

Submitted by acsempronio on June 4, 2008 - 2:20am

I have my Portable Apps package inside a TrueCrypt container on my USB drive.
I have a truecrypt container as a volume for documents, pictures, temp, history, internet cache, etc.
I didn't mount the local TC volume and tried to send an email and noticed it wouldn't let me because my temp folder was full or unavailable.

Is there anyway to point thunderbird to wrote temp files to the USB drive and not Windows' default?

Thunderbird for U3 won't start

Submitted by bschwob on June 3, 2008 - 1:46pm

I have been using Thunderbird for U3 on my flash drive for some time and I love it. Suddenly it won't start. I get the message "Runs Thunderbird from a U3 device has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are very sorry for the inconvenience." I have uninstalled and re-installed and I get the same thing. Any suggestions??

Thanks!

Compose window stay open

Hi guys,

I am using PTB on a usb flash drive. When I compose mails and hit the send button, it sends the email but the compose window stays open. The mail appears in the Send folder, but the compose window icon keeps showing in the task bar. When you click on the Compose window icon in the task bar the compose window don't pop up, but if you open up the "Task manager" it says that the compose window is still running as well as Thunderbird. So if I select the "TB compose" window process it just closes TB all together.
Any idea why this happens.

Email is gone!!!

Submitted by ggrosser on June 2, 2008 - 7:33am

I recently added another account to my Thunderbird portable email. I then decided that I didn't really need the other email account, so I deleted it. Now, all of my email that I had stored on there is gone. Folders and all. When I go into my flash drive, I can still see the folders listed in there, but then don't show in Thunderbird. It seems to have created a new email folder. It now has a -1 at the end. How do I get all of my email back to the way it was?
