Portable T-bird 1.5.0.14

Submitted by DocRon on May 5, 2008 - 7:49am

I really need to get a copy of this particular version. It is needed in a primitive area with limited computing resources. 2.0 won't run, but all 1.5 versions are fine. I understand that 1.5.0.14 was the last in the series.
Did Google, and found lots of places to get the German version... and only the German version. Interesting!!

Thunderbird crashes after flashing grey bar with red text

Submitted by newtyro on May 4, 2008 - 11:46pm

Before posting, I checked some threads ("Gray bar below status bar") that looked promising, but did not work for me. I do not have the "offline.manifest" file they recommend deleting.

Running Windows XP, Mobile Intel video, just in case. No extensions installed.

I have been able to run TBird portable in that stick. But not recently. I believe the failure comes after updating to 12.

Gray bar below status bar

Just upgraded to Portable v2.0.0.12 and have run into some sort of problem. At the bottom of the message pane there is a bar about 1 1/2" wide running horizontally above the task bar which appears to be displaying code such as:

menu id = "offlinemenuitem" insertafter = "trashmenuseparator"

It goes on like this and even after I tried a different skin, it was still there.

Any clues?

I can recieve emails, but can't send

Submitted by LionHeartAU on May 3, 2008 - 9:59am

I have only recently discovered Thunderbird Portable, and I am truly impressed with it, except for one thing. The one thing, of course, being the subject of this post/topic.

When I attempt to send, it asks for my mail server's password (even when I have previously given it the password, and checked the "Use password manager to remember this password' option), churns for a bit, and then declares that it can't access the server.

I have copied the settings for the server directly from Outlook Express, which has no problem with sending and receiving emails.

auto update to version 2.0.0.14

Hi,
This latest update got into a loop of failure and the following solved the problem for me:
If the update fails, then go to:
PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable\App\thunderbird
rename:
mozMapi32.dll to something like mozMapi32_old.dll
Then click ok in the loop that keeps failing in the update.
This time it will complete but say: "partial update, going to get a complete one" or something similar, then that update will install and run fine.

Hope this helps,

Hi,
I've an instance of Thunderbird on my pen drive, and another on local pc disk, I forgot to uncheck automatic update on thunderbird portable and now in Tools -> Option -> Update (Show Update history) there is an installation pending. There is a way to force Thunderbird not to update?
I read there is some problems with auto-update.

Thanks in advance
Marco

Submitted by SirVival on May 1, 2008 - 1:53pm

Hi,
I just installed Portapps and Thunderbird on my USB Stick.

On my Desktop I have Thunderbird 1.5
The Emails are stored on a extra drive E:.

I copied the profile and the mail Folder as described here https://portableapps.com/support/thunderbird_portable#local_profile

But when I start Thunderbird there is just the account creation not my settings and emails.

Portable TB keeps crashing when opened

Submitted by cmwatt on May 1, 2008 - 5:04am

Have been using portable TB for about a month with no problems.

But all of a sudden everytime I launch the programme it says "thunderbird has encountered a problem and has to close". This happens no matter what PC my portable WD hard drive is connected to.

The properties says I have version 1.5.1.0
But I downloaded it from the portableapps website, which says it is version 2.0.0.12 which is odd?

I have tried re-installing it over the top with no success.

Any ideas?
