Thunderbird Portable

error starting thunderbird on U3

Submitted by Abbas on April 11, 2008 - 9:12am

Hello,

I have a Cruzer Micro 4GB. I had Mozilla Thunderbird Installed on my U3 Launchpad a couple of days ago but yesterday my computer hibernated while I was using my U3 and it caused a mess up with one of the games I was playing and I formatted the flash drive. Unknowingly, I messed up my whole U3 drive and all the program files were deleted and I was advised by Sandisk support to uninstall and re-install the U3 launchpad which I have done and all other programs as well.

Thunderbird Portable leaving data on PC?

Submitted by kingofpenguins on April 11, 2008 - 8:34am

While using Thunderbird Portable on someone else's computer, I think that some data may be kept on the drive. This computer is set to use the Windows XP style login screen (the one that lists the users). After I finished with Thunderbird Portable and logged out (with messages still in my Inbox), on the login screen, it displayed how many unread messages there were and on which account (and then showed my email address if you clicked it). This was with my USB flash drive removed from the PC.

Paths - Part 2

Submitted by RoninV on April 9, 2008 - 5:41pm

I read a very small thread about the paths used with Thunderbird Portable, but it was from 2006, so I'm hoping some additonal information has surfaced. Using TB (2.00.12)...

Since plugging in a portable drive (USB) will not net you the same drive letter, from computer to computer, I've noticed that some stings (under about.config) do not update the drive letter to match that of the USB at the time. For example,

Mail.root.none
Mail.root.pop3
Webmail.logging.commc.FileLocation
Mail.server.server1.directory

Select the profile folder

Submitted by iw2nzm on April 7, 2008 - 4:23am

Hello,

I have on my USB pen the backup data of my desktop PC. Among all folders I also have the thunderbird profile one. I'd like to use this for TB portable so I keep it synchronized with the desktop.

The folder's path looks like this:

H:\Documents\Femtotech\Thunderbird

How to configure TB portable to use this folder?

Thanks!

by uninstalling Thunderbird: error message: can't delete because of empty registry

Submitted by evelyns on April 7, 2008 - 3:56am

hi,
i have a portable Thunderbird on a USB stick in an encrypted (with TrueCrypt) area.
by removing the stick without demounting it first i damaged my Thunderbird application to the extent that all folders and all mails were gone and i was prompted to set up a new account before being able to use the program.

i wanted to deinstall TB and then reinstall it again. however, by deleting the folders most were gone, except for the Data/Profile/Mail/Local Folders/Inbox and when i try to delete these, i get the error message: Folder can't be deleted because registry is empty.

Large Inbox File

Submitted by stands2reason on April 6, 2008 - 9:28pm

I have an inbox file that is much larger than it should be. I have tried deleting the .msf file and compacting. Also, all of my folders are stored in the same local folders, so I can't find the one that I've having trouble with in particular. Any suggestions?
