thunderbird won't launch firefox any more

Submitted by rogueclassicist on February 29, 2008 - 5:46am

Not sure what happened, but starting last night for no apparent reason, I can't get thunderbird to launch firefox anymore when a link is clicked. i've reloaded thunderbird (the version from this site) and it has not helped ... any ideas?

[i do have launchy installed; i just installed thunderbrowser to see if that helped ... it works, but i still can't get a link to open in firefox portable from it ... firefox IS the default browser as far as I'm aware, unless that can be 'overridden' somewhere]

Cannot view saved passwords

This is a copy and paste from a thread a also started over at the mozillazine forums.

G'day.

I use portable Thunderbird and have had no dramas up until now.
I have been using version 2.0.0.6 for ages and decided that i had better upgrade after reading the secunia warning http://secunia.com/advisories/29133/
So i grab the latest thunderbird portable https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/thunderbird_portable and proceed to remove the original thunderbird folder from my usb drive and replace it with the latest version and copy my profile back to the usb drive.

new version broken?

Submitted by nocuteusername on February 28, 2008 - 4:15pm

I just got a message from Thunderbird that a new version had been downloaded and that I should restart Thunderbird to install it, which I did. Now Thunderbird does not work anymore. I can double-click the Icon and I get the Portable Apps splash screen. Then nothing. I have already restarted my computer, but it does not help. How do I get Thunderbird back to work without losing all my emails and having to go through all the configuration settings again?

Hi all. I satarted using TBP recently, and filled up most of the memory on the USB flash. I deleted many of my emails, but that caused my available space to SHRINK. How do I actually free up memory? (i tried hitting the "compress" button, but got some error. Would appreciate some help with this

"Empty Trash" disappears the Trash folder

Submitted by jedd.jarvis on February 25, 2008 - 11:02am

When I right-click a Trash folder and choose "Empty Trash", the trash folder disappears. Then I can no longer delete messages in that account. Apparently there is no place for them to go. The same behavior happens in Email Accts, RSS Accts, and Local Folders.

If I restart TB then the Trash folder appears again, complete with all items that were supposed to have been deleted.

But one week ago, i can't send mails.
My TB says:
""the message no could be sent because connecting SMTP server mail.riseup.net failed. The server maybe unavailable or is refusing SMTP conections. Please verify that your SMTP settings is correct and tray again, or else contact your network adminstrator"
what's the problem?
(sorry for my english)
