Thunderbird Portable

From Thunderbird to Portable Thunderbird

Submitted by cipherpunk on September 5, 2007 - 1:52pm

Hi all,

I'm using Thunderbird on my laptop, but now I'ld like to use the Portable Thunderbird version to use it from an USB disk, so I can use my client from every computer.

Could you please tell me how to trasfer all the e-mails, filters, attachment and so on from Thuderbird to Portable Thunderbird?

Thanks in advance,

Best regards,

Pierluigi

running from a CD

Submitted by alaxa on September 1, 2007 - 11:13am

Sorry if it's already covered and my search was not very deep, but I need to understand if running from a CD (readonly file system) means that in any case the files are copied to a TEMP directory. If so, is there any way to run it from the CD for just reading the email? I think it's not useful to wait until 700MB of profile is copied into $TEMP.
am I wrong?

thanks,
a.

Folder Settings saved from Computer to Computer

First the backstory: I have a 2.0Gb thumb drive that I have portableapps running on. I use ThunderbirdPortable to allow me to keep my personal mail in one app when at I'm at work and home. The work machine is a Windows XP SP2 machine, the home machine is a Windows Vista Home Premium machine.

The issue: For the longest time I had no problems, however of late (and I'm kicking myself as a former Systems Administrator for not making exact note of when it started), I get this oddity where the following typical scenario occurs:

Fixed problem with Yahoo Mail add-on

Submitted by grey88 on August 29, 2007 - 11:03am

I kept getting the "negative vibes from yracc_@yahoo.com" error and I checked up on Yahoo Mail...

The Beta is now no longer Beta, and they are switching their accounts over to the new server already, so I found (for me at least) that updating the webmail Yahoo plugin to the Yahoo Beta website fixed the problem and I can now download my messages again. By the way, I also had to update my yahoo mail account to the new yahoo mail because I had never switched to Yahoo mail beta...

Thanx

Tools Import Address Books Programs List is blank

Submitted by ShowMeMO on August 27, 2007 - 10:27am

In Thunderbird Portable 2.0.0.6, when I access the following menu sequence, Tools / Import / Address Books / my only result is a dialog box with no options. No programs are listed in the "Select the program from which you would like to import" list and the only remaining option is to cancel or go back.

I have properly formatted CSVs and LDIF address books waiting in the wings but have no visible way to import the data.
