Thunderbird Portable

reporting number of contacts in address book list

Submitted by Ian M on October 15, 2007 - 3:11pm

I use lists to mail to groups of people, but need to limit size of lists to prevent my ISP refusing the mail thinking it is spam when it is not.

Is there a way for Thunderbird portable to report how many contacts in a list to save me counting or is there somewhere I can post to the developers to request this as a feature.

Thanks.

Ian

Vista won't start my portable Thunderbird

Submitted by schurmann on October 13, 2007 - 1:08am

I am travelling and my Cruzer Thunderbird has worked perfectly many times in internet cafés. Then I bought a notebook with Vista loaded and, when I tried to run Thunderbird from my Cruzer, it told me;

"Thunderbird cannot be started. You may wish to re-install it to fix this issue. (Error: The program could not be found: /Thunderbird/Thunderbird.exe".

TB w/ exchange

Submitted by Lahru on October 11, 2007 - 11:48pm

I've set my TBP to work with exchange it initially pulled down all of the folders, but no e-mail in any of those folders. It did get mail, however only what was in the inbox the first time I ran it. Now, I get no new e-mail from the inbox or any from the other folders. Our exchange server is set to use IMAP so I don't get what is going on.

Chinese emails not coming in chinese

Submitted by Pengy on October 11, 2007 - 7:03am

I work in Taiwan, so I often get emails with traditional chinese characters. When I use Thunderbird on my laptop (the regular one), they appear just fine. I've just put Thunderbird Portable on a removable disk and copied my entire profile over so I could use it on my desktop. Now those emails are no longer in chinese, just gibberish, like:

@BQ|ɶG96~1019W8I30ܤU2I40
GBQ|aIGn}޳Nǰ|ؼӤTӲĤG|ij

Lost emails

Submitted by nimnod on October 9, 2007 - 6:10pm

I get that this is some sort of FAQ.

I have several folders that are very large with lots of old sent emails. I have deleted files in them WITHOUT DOING THE COMPACTING (only learned of this recently). Now as far as TB knows the entire FOLDER is empty - it still reads as 469MB (yes, it's big).

I have deleted the msf file and let TB rebuild it and still no go.

I tried to use AID4MAIL which got most of the way through it and found some sort of email delimeter missing - so I am getting the feeling that the file is really SNAFU'd

Any thoughts?

Red Error Message at bottom of Thunderbird Screen

Submitted by SteveRobinson on October 8, 2007 - 2:23pm

Hi,
I've been using Thunderbird Portable for about six months and really dont know how I lived without it but:
Having filled my favorite memory stick up I have copied the whole thing across to a bigger one and now thunderbird comes up with a bottom panel with:

menu id="offlineMenuItem" insertafter="trashMenuSeparator" label="&offlineMenu.label;" accesskey="&offlineMenu
And the view panel no longer wraps properly.

Any suggestions what I have done wrong?

I'm in XP at the moment but have never had any problems even with Vista

Thanks
