Upgrade from 38.5

Submitted by upchuck on October 24, 2018 - 2:08am

I need to update my Thunderbird as described in the title. I tried upgrading directly to 60.2.1 but the upgrade did not go over the existing program. Instead, it wanted me to 'create a new account.'

How can I get from 38.5 to 60.2 and keep my existing settings, emails, etc?

PortableApps on Linux - failes on start

Surprised no one else has this problem after four months. Thunderbird portable failed on start for Mint 17. Appears latest wine does not include full 32 bit support. Thunderbird, even in safe mode, fails as dump shows;

ThunderbirdPortable and Lightning Calendar on Win7/10

Submitted by Canned135 on August 24, 2018 - 6:22pm

I have been having problems with portability of Thunderbird 60.0 (Portable edition 2.1.2.0 from 8/6/2018) installed on a USB2.0 stick between Windows 7 and Windows 10 and Lightning Calendar not always available.

Initial search for this problem led me to 'Calendar update Issues with Thunderbird' at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/calendar-updates-issues-thunderbird

user name and password combination not accepted with new install

Submitted by Exonoesis on August 16, 2018 - 3:46pm

After doing a new install of Thunderbird my user name and password combination is not accepted for three different e-mail accounts. I have checked and rechecked the spelling and I know it is not the servers because the install of Thunderbird on the SSD in the computer works fine with the same accounts.

Is it Okay to 'Install' PortApps Thunderbird v60.0 Over the Top of PortApps Thunderbird v52.x?

Submitted by Abraxian on August 14, 2018 - 3:30pm

Just wondering. I did install v60.0 over the top of v52.9.1 and everything seems fine ('cept FireTray addon doesn't work anymore, bummer). But I'm thinking that as v60.0 is a major revision if it's better to start right from scratch again. (Want to avoid that if I can as lots of tweaks to replicate again if I have to start from scratch.)

Add ons

Submitted by MarionPB on August 13, 2018 - 11:24am

I am very pleased with Thunderbird portable. I have several hundred duplicate messages after a major email migration. I'm trying to download and use the "remove duplicate messages" add on. Does that add on work with portable? If so, how do I install it? Thank you - Marion

Portable Thunderbird v60.0 only x86?

Submitted by Screemer on August 9, 2018 - 9:35am

Hi,

I really don't post allot here at this forum but now I felt I had to ask a question about the new Thunderbird v60.0 release.
Wouldn't it be possible to have both x86 and x64 in the same installer?
As it is now it seem to only install x86 version.

Since Mozilla finally seem to have released an official x64 version I would really love to be able to use it. Smile

Version 60

Submitted by Alcasar on August 7, 2018 - 3:04pm

Thunderbird 60 doesn't work properly. 6 out of my 10 add-ons don't work with this version which makes it impossible for me to do what i want to do with Thunderbird.
How can i get the previous version back?
