TBP Not Reading the Sent Folder DAT File

Submitted by AJ113 on May 26, 2019 - 4:00pm

I can see the sent emails in the DAT file if I open it with Notepad, but TB is only reading two of them, it seems to be ignoring the rest.

This happened in unified view. One minute the sent emails were there, the next minute they had all disappeared bar two.

I have five accounts: two POP3 and three IMAP. Is that a potential problem? I see that TBP has not created email folders for the IMAP accounts, yet it is still getting the data from somewhere. How does that happen?

no register.exe for Thunderbird

Submitted by throbert on May 22, 2019 - 3:00pm

So there is a registerfp_1_1.zip that I used to get Firefox Portable into my Set Default Programs list and then I was able to associate it with the protocols properly. So all is fine with Firefox Portable now. So Why is there not a registerfp_1_1.zip for Thunderbird Portable like a registetbp_1_1.zip so I can get Tbird on the list and associated with the protocols properly.

Reading spanish special characters: ñ, ´, ¿, etc.

Submitted by Enferalco on May 2, 2019 - 7:45am

For several weeks, incoming emails in Thunderbird are not displayed correctly because special characters in Spanish are not recognized. The outgoing emails, on the other hand, do read well on my PC.
I have made a new installation of Thunderbird without adding my profile and only configuring the email account and the problem is the same.
The version of Thunderbird that I use is 60.6.1 for Windows Spanish (from Spain) with MD5 24f19cdee7a0ba3e0791f508753b11a7 and I have tested it in Windows 10 of 32 and 64 bits with the same result.

Where Are Email Folders?

Submitted by wr4 on April 5, 2019 - 7:31pm

I'm a long time user of SeaMonkey and have recently started to have problems with sent messages not being copied to the selected Sent folder.

I recently set up Thunderbird Portable and attempted to import the emails from my SM folder, but totally impossible to do, from what I see. My SM folder has a separate folder named Mail, but I cannot find one in my Thunderbird folder. I figured I could copy the appropriate folders and files and it would probably work, but I can't find them to even attempt this.

Gradually degraded write performance of TBP on USB 3.0 stick

Submitted by joetron2030 on March 29, 2019 - 5:52pm

Something I've noticed over the past couple years is that TBP seems to be really struggling with write performance to my 32GB USB 3.0 flash drive. The one I have is a "Micro Center" branded drive. The USBDeview utility says it's a Kingston flash drive under the covers.

How is portable version of TB updated?

Submitted by ajax on March 26, 2019 - 4:21pm

TB is following a common method of updating the software which is that it automatically identifies the availability of updates and then urges the user to perform the update. At least that is how mine has been set up. Portable apps has its' own method of identifying available updates and then urging the user to perform the update. Do these different methods conflict with each other. Is one or the other invalid or maybe we should say NOT applicable?

Can a profile be moved from an installed TB to portable TB?

Submitted by ajax on March 26, 2019 - 4:15pm

Considering changing from installed version of TB to a portable version. Can the profile from my installed and running instance of TB be moved to the portable version. If so how? Does the profile manager function properly on the portable version? If so how is it invoked?

I am a long-time user of SeaMonkey. I migrated when Netscape Navigator went under. I understand that the SM Mail interface is TB based. I also have vision issues and sometimes miss 'small but significant' options.

I'm having email download problems from my ISP and the response on the SM Mozillazine forum was to try ThunderbirdPortable to see if it could pull in mail.

One responder suggested I download Mozilla Thunderbird, Portable Edition 52.8.0. Somehow I ended up with the more recent version.
