Thunderbird Portable

Aero transparency missing in main window only

Submitted by ltwally on March 16, 2012 - 11:27am

OS: Win7 SP1 x64
TB: 11.0 portable
Addons: none
Theme: default

Issue: The main Thunderbird window does not display the "glass" transparency effect that has been present since TBird 5.0. Other windows (new message, address book, etc) do show the full aero/glass effect.

This is on a brand-new "install" of TB 11.0 portable, with a completely fresh profile (no accounts and no extensions).

Any ideas on how to re-enable the glass effect in the main window? I'm one of the rare few that actually like that.

Thanks

Thunderbird Orcon POP3 works under Win7 but not XP

Thunderbird Portable 10.0.2 –
This was working fine.
Now I can download mail from the Orcon POP3 server on my Win7 system but it fails on my both of my XP systems
(Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server mail.orcon.net.nz responded: re-authentication failure).
- I can download from the Clearnet POP3 server ok.
- SMTP to Orcon works ok.
- No recent Windows updates.
- No update to Thunderbird.
- No settings changed in T’Bird (in any case, it still works on the Win7 system)
- Disabled all T'Bird addons

Need to import profile

Submitted by comtech5 on March 6, 2012 - 9:32pm

I have a replacement thumb drive and installed TB on it. I want to bring over all settings, mail, address book to the new drive. I was able to copy and paste the profile folder but at the new home page, TB doesn't see the profile and/or wants to start me thru a setup wizard. What am I not doing correctly?

Account problems after 2.0 -> 10.0.2 upgrade

Submitted by upchuck on March 6, 2012 - 2:06pm

I just upgraded from v2.0.0.22 to v10.0.2 (I know, a big jump Smile

After the upgrade I added a gmail account to Thunderbird.

My problem: the gmail account isn't listed in the account list so I have no control over it.

And, while I'm here, how do I delete an account? I have several old, no longer used accounts I'd like to get rid of.

TIA for any help.

one of several accounts is no longer working

Hi, this is puzzling me and I'm really hoping someone out there can help; I use Portable Thunderbird 8.0 - I may need to upgrade, I know, but I'm worried that my zindus plugin, and some others won't work. I'm running it on a windows 7 laptop, from the main hard drive (planning to move it onto a portable, but haven't got that far yet...).

Can I make Thunderbird only semi-portable?

The reason I ask is that Thunderbird is very groggy when I load it from a thumb drive -- so much so that it's almost unusable.

So, I figured, I have Thunderbird on my laptop and desktop, and I just want the profiles to stay in sync, so why don't I just have a profile on the thumb drive? Well, even when I use thunderbird on my computer, pointing to the portable profile, it's just as slow.
