Thunderbird Portable

Whenever I attempt to open the program, it consistently crashes. This is a new installation, so I am unsure why it is being like this. What could I do to fix it?

I run (and have done for several years through various versions) the standard version of Firefox on two machines with the PortableApps version of Thunderbird on a USB stick which alternates between the two machines.

In both cases the Firefox installation is standard - just the default profile and it's the default browser on each machine.

Prior to last night's upgrade of Firefox, if I had Firefox open on the machine and clicked on a URL in an email in Thunderbird, it would open up a new tab in the existing copy of FF - which is as expected, and as configured.

I usually configure
see-conversations-Only not read

but after compact folders all messages are showed again

read and not read

How can I solve this. Is very uncomfortable to restart again to filter

my office uses a 'proxy' to connect to the internet to keep an eye on what employees browse in the office. this is fine. but what i was wondering was can Thunderbird (used on a pendrive, of course) be used to check personal email without my office being able to see me login to some personal email account, and can they actually read my messages? i mean, T'bird will of course have to connect to the internet through this 'proxy' thing my office uses, right?

I've uninstalled Thunderbird Portable, I've reinstalled it, I've set up my settings a hundred times and the next time I try to use it it won't even open.

It may be a bigger issue with Portableapps which seems to require me to repair the flashdrive every time I put it in.

I am tired windows asking me for Microsoft Outlook to send the message.

How can I configure really the TB client as email sender by default.

I'm using TB 13.01 portable + Enigmail + GPG for Thunderbird Portable 1.4.12 and it works fine, but sometimes when I receive a crypted mail instead it shows the green bar with the valid certified in the securety information, it shows the green bar with something like "gpg.exe

Just upgraded Thunderbird and tried to read email and it crashed, so re-started and it crashed again. So re-booted to windows and started it and it worked. So went back to Linux and it crashed again... Been using this for the last 6 years, normally very happy with the product, this is the only time I've not been..
