Thunderbird Portable

odd installation of double thunderbirdportable

Submitted by beth050764 on October 2, 2011 - 6:10pm

Hi, I installed thunderbirdportable on my flash drive and downloaded a bunch of emails from google and saved them to my DVD.

Next, I installed thunderbirdportable2ndprofile to my flash drive as well, to add my yahoo address and also to hopefully be able to open up the files I saved on my DVD since I can't get them to call up in thunderbirdportable.

When I looked on my flash drive, however, after I installed Thunderbirdportable2ndprofile, it seems to have installed a second thunderbirdportable inside the thundebirdportable2ndpropfile folder.

Corrupt Enigmail 1.32 Download

Submitted by Cateagle on September 30, 2011 - 3:24pm

I just upgraded Thunderbird to 6.0.2.

The first notice I get is that the Enigmail addon is out-of-date.
So I downloaded the new one... 1.32... at least so I thought.
But I found out really quick that the Enigmail 1.32 download is corrupt.
Instead of 3.2Mb you just get about 0.5Mb....

...so I just downgraded back to 3.1.15...

Update issue with Thunderbird on Net Share

Submitted by Saquall on September 28, 2011 - 8:08am

Hi,

ever since TB 6 (also the new TB 7) the update process wont work with Portable Thunderbird on our network share. It looks like it goes through the total update process but in the end I get a message that something went wrong and I should make sure that I've not installed more than one TB.

After clicking the failure message away the "old" TB will start up.

When I do the same on on usb stick or hard drive it'll work fine.

Anyone an idea if there is something I can fix or if this is something that had to be fixed in the portable version?

accessing emails stored on DVD via Flash drive i.s.o. via C;/ drive

Hi, so I installed thunderbird portable on my flash drive, downloaded my emails from google to the same flash drive, then transferred everything from the flash drive(including the app) to a DVD via a MAC computer. I did NOT install the App on the DVD. When I open the DVD it shows that the files are all there as far as I can tell. I did NOT install the app on the DVD since it was being transferred using a friends computer and I didn't want the app to install the temp files on his computer.
Now i want to use the App which is on my flash drive in the following way:

Importing mail etc into new install of T/Bird Portable 6.02

Submitted by Nunhead_man on September 18, 2011 - 1:00pm

I'm just trying to untangle my administrator's install of T/Bird Portable. Its a teal mess of folders - not just the ones I see on a fresh install.

Also there is at least one corrupt set of files.

If I freeze her old install and make a new one which files or folders should I move across to keep her existing mail records - looks like some are stored in "local folders" and some with the profile of the three email addresses she uses from this install.

Also ho do I get the new install to "see" the copied over files?
