Thunderbird Portable

I have downloaded my email from my webserver and most commercial emails from businesses with a lot of images are only coming in as html code only. In fact it looks like TB portable is actually combining some of the older emails into one.

Can anyone help me with this? As far as I can tell, TB portable is a big bust!

Can anyone tell me if Portable Thunderbird works with Lightning or do I have to run Portable Sunbird separately.

Interesting one - I moved my PortableApps from my network share on to my hard drive, and while it's the HD version of the Thunderbird app that gets updated and the profile directory on the HD is being updated with account changes, it's the original mail directories back on the network share that are being updated with the mail. I checked the [ProfD] setting through the error console, and it points to the HD profile. Everything I can find in the Thunderbird UI points to the hard drive, damned if I can find the link between the profile on the HD and the original mail files on the share.

When I try to launch TB, I get a new window "TB appears to be running from a location that is read-only. Would you like to temporarily copy it to the local hard drive and run it from there?"
I've gotten this error msg many times before and was always able to resolve it somehow. I cannot this time.
I tried chkdsk and no problems found.
I've very recently compacted my inbox.
I tried re-installing TB v8 software and this didn't help either.

All I want to do is to TAKE A COPY of all emails in my Local (Thunderbird) folders, and STORE/ACCESS them in another environment. Purpose here is to kind of archive the current LOCAL EMAILS on another Laptop. Please advise if following will work:

1. Install Portable in target Laptop
2. Replicate Settings (for Thunderbird Local) from Current Laptop to Portable
3. Copy the Thunderbird Local Files to Portable

I'm using Thunderbird portable 7.0.1 with enigmail 1.3.2 and GnuPG for
Thunderbird portable 1.4.11 on windows vista (or 7).

Then, I'm facing a problem that case if the windows user has registered his
name using multibyte character name (e.g. Japanese), to encrypt the attached
file failed.

The gpg application complains me;

> gpg: can't create `C:\\Users\\2.\\AppData\Local\Temp\ENCFIL~1' : No such file or directory
> gpg: C:\\var\test.txt: encryption failed: file create error

Of course my username is not '2.'.

Unmark messages alone by magic art

In one of my accounts is very disgusting observ when reenter in TB that the messages are marked as read without my intervention.

What can I do when nothing I have done ?

I posted this in the Thunderbird support forum, but haven't received a reply, and have an event with 200 people coming up in two days without access to my emails, so I hope no one's offended by the crosspost.

Portable Thunderbird OSX meltdown

I am running Portable Thunderbird on a USB drive on OSX. Today it just crashed completely - got stuck opening a message. When I restarted, all my folders were gone, everything moves at a snail's pace, but my settings remained.

I know I have to compact my folders every now and then. I don't need or want this pop-up window. This is a maddening PITA.

I recently updated to v7.0.1 and notice that when I have an e-mail message open, and press either the Delete key on the keyboard or the Delete button in the application, it deletes the message and returns to the inbox.

Until this time, pressing either of these would delete the message and open the next unread message.

Was wondering if anyone was having a similar issue and if there was a fix. I've closed and restarted Thunderbird and have since restarted the computer with no change.
