Eraser Portable

Submitted by gris on October 1, 2008 - 12:54am

I have installed and tried Eraser Portable and found that, unlike the non-portable application that requires installation, it has no menu-context (i.e. right-click) entry associated with it in Windows Explorer. I am not certain if there is anything I might have missed that had resulted in my not being able to locate the menu-context entry. Kindly advise. Thanks.

How to tell JKDefrag to sort by names?

Submitted by ERDi on September 30, 2008 - 4:05pm

Hi everyone

My plan is this:
I renamed a 600mb file to "A" and copied it to my system drive, now I want to defrag my system drive, delete "A" and then tell Windows to set its swap file to my system drive, this will end up in the swap file (512mb) to be placed at the very beginning of my drive, only right now I am not able to tell JKDefrag to sort by names. I've used regular JKDefrag before and I know this option is possible, still I don't know how to handle this with the portable version.

GnuCash Errors

I was just helping someone on #portableapps out with GnuCash and thought I'd point out some errors I saw:

  • None of the links on the help.html to GnuCash Portable support work. They all point to https://portableapps.com/gnucashportable/support.html
  • The support page for GnuCash Portable is missing from the Support page, I'll add that in
  • Under the translation guide, you mention the App\GnuCash\share\locale\ directory. I'm unable to find this in my fresh install, is there a chance it was accidentally removed?

Jooleem for the color-blind

Submitted by jdharm on September 24, 2008 - 7:10pm

I couldn't play this game at all because of the colors. I only saw two colors: yellow and everything else.

The solution was to change the background to an all black field and remake the jools to different shapes.

I created some new images, sized and formatted correctly, and posted them so anyone else with the same problem won't have to make their own.

Just copy the files into the JooleemPortable\App\Jooleem\data\marbles folder, allowing overwrite.

Missing thread about e-sword problem?

Submitted by exscentric on September 22, 2008 - 9:32am

Am I going blind or did someone delete the strange problem with e-sword thread? I was going to post another Bible program that works with portable apps but couldn't find the thread?????

Anyway this program worked off a usb and runs in portable apps - at least it did a year or so ago. It is a basic bible program - not a lot of resources with it.

BUG: PNotes Portable 4.0 - autosave - recovery of auto-saved note(s) fail after unclean shutdown

Submitted by eresele on September 22, 2008 - 9:17am

BUG: PNotes Portable 4.0 - autosave - recovery of auto-saved note(s) fail after unclean shutdown, IF note has NOT been explicitly saved [yet].

First of all I'd like to take the opportunity to give my appreciation to the PNotes developer(s) for the quick response to my request for implementing an auto-save feature for non-saved notes only (thereby avoiding unnecessary writes/wear to a flash drive).

Portable Apps Menu (MOD 34) - requires administrator rights.

Submitted by binion66 on September 19, 2008 - 10:37pm

I really like the this mod. but I have found a few things do not work on a machine that you do not have administrator rights. When you make a new category the folder icons will not display. Also once you remove it for whatever reason all the changes you made are gone. This doesn't make the menu mod very portable.

[locked and moved to "Other Apps" as mods are unsupported]

WinSCP Local Files Display

Submitted by pwebguy on September 19, 2008 - 2:53pm

Hello, all!

I run my portableapps from a truecrypt volume, always mounted to the same drive letter.

When I run WinSCP, I noticed a small curiosity. If I am browsing using the local window (left) and choose my portable volume from the drop-down menu (always P: for 'portable' - original, huh?) the window jumps to the path of the WinSCP Portable apps folder:

P:\PortableApps\WinSCPPortable\App\winscp

instead of the P: home directory.

Not a big issue, but does anyone know why this might be or how I can fix it? I get the same response on different OS's.
