[Fixed] MPlayer Portable leaves folder behind when DVD played

Submitted by horrormaster34 on September 11, 2008 - 8:13pm

I'm not sure if this happens in XP, but it does in Vista.

If you play a DVD that contains CSS protection (pretty much all of them) in MPlayer Portable, a folder is created called .dvdcss inside the UserName folder.

[subject fixed by mod JTH. "MPlayer is not 100% portable" was not descriptive]

[Fixed] PNotes missing translations / Language switcher broken

John T. Haller's picture
Submitted by John T. Haller on September 11, 2008 - 12:45pm

After releasing PNotes I noticed that it's missing several translations from the previous version, most of which are on the PNotes translations site on SourceForge so I'm not sure why they weren't included. Also the automatic language switcher is now partially broken as the language files are not named as they were before but the launcher wasn't updated.

SSH Keys in WinSCP

Submitted by lilorox on September 10, 2008 - 5:49am

Hi,

Is there a way to place the SSH keys in a directory of the WinSCP root directory and configure the profiles with a relative path to the key ?

I tried to put them in WinSCPPortable's root directory and in different directories but nothing works and the application reports that it cannot find them.

That would be very helpful because if it is not possible then the application would not really be portable when using SSH keys.

Thanks!

Notepad++ FTP_synchronize

Submitted by hm2k on September 8, 2008 - 2:28pm

I see "FTP_synchronizeA.dll" in E:\PortableApps\Notepad++Portable\App\Notepad++\plugins\

However I downloaded a copy of the plugin from the official website here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=189927&package_id=...

Included in the zip file was a text file called "What file to use.txt", which says:
----
There are now 2 files in the package. One file is Unicode, the other one is ANSI.
I recommend the Unicode version on WinNT and later, and ANSI on Win9x/WinME.
Unicode:
FTP_synchronize.dll
ANSI:
FTP_synchronizeA.dll

f-secure + portaputty = Backdoor.Win32.Bifrose >_<

Submitted by deezel on September 8, 2008 - 3:41am

Here we go with another virus warning. I wouldn't really touch anything that comes from f-secure, but the company uses it and now due to this I can't work. Wonderful.

plink gets this one:
Malicious code found in file .\portaPutty\plink.exe.

Infection: Backdoor.Win32.Bifrose.aauu

and putty gets this one:
Malicious code found in file .\portaPutty\putty.exe.

Infection: Backdoor.Win32.Bifrose.aauv

I am using the version from here: http://code.google.com/p/portaputty/downloads/list

Anyone else with this problem or is it just our virus definitions that has gone bonkers?

Fast media player like Cool Player+ that plays FLAC?

Submitted by Warhawk on August 31, 2008 - 5:57pm

I love cool player+ because it's so simple and uses only like 4-5mb of ram, but one thing it doesn't do is play FLAC.

So I was wondering if perhaps you can add the codec somehow, or if there is another light program that plays flac in addition to mp3 and ogg.
I would use VLC, but it takes a while to load and isn't very light(40+mb of ram).

NSIS Portable Virus?

Submitted by hm2k on August 29, 2008 - 9:25am

I'm trying to download NSIS Portable from the official site at the following link:

http://usb.smithtech.us/apps/downloads/NSISPortable.exe

However, my anti-virus software (Avast!) reports it as a virus...

"Win32:Binder-CC [Tool]" - "Other potentially dangerous program" - "080828-0, 28/08/2008".

My understanding is that it is a false positive, however I wanted to let people know so the problem can be resolved.

Thanks.
