Expresso not working on my win 7 machine, Coffee works fine

Submitted by jnash67 on March 11, 2013 - 10:12am

Expresso doesn't pick up my double clicks on My Win 7 Prof 64-bit SP1 machine. Coffee (http://www.lupopensuite.com/db/coffee.htm) seems to work fine.

From browsing the forums, I understand there's some issue involving the makers of Coffee not properly attributing work. Would far prefer to use Expresso. Any ideas what might be going on?

IrfanView / Paint.net_How to save current image that's < 100% as final size

Submitted by christina_a on March 7, 2013 - 9:01pm

Sounds a bit strange.
If I'm displaying a pretty large image (say 5400 px sq.) in IrfanView, Paint.net, PicPick, etc. & I choose a zoom level where I like the look / size of individual elements, in ONE area.

Image is still no where near 100%. I select a rectangle so the ACTUAL size of rectangle_AND the way the selection looks AT THAT ZOOM level, is what I want. Say, to use as Fx header background.

Chrome Portable not shutting down?

Submitted by Bindlestiff on March 4, 2013 - 2:07pm

Here is the sequence of events: Run (latest version) of Google Chrome. Exit the program. Run Ccleaner. A message pops up saying that Google Chrome needs to be closed. Open a copy of Task Manager. This shows two tasks still running: chrome.exe and GoogleChromePortable.exe.

Why would these tasks still be running after Chrome is shut down? I don't see similar behavior when running Mozilla Firefox Portable. Also, I don't remember having this problem with older versions of Google Chrome.

Modifications of the current version of TeamViewer Portable 8.0.17292

Submitted by tapsklaps on March 4, 2013 - 6:53am
In the current version of TeamViewer Portable 8.0.17292 is by default the option of saving the settings disabled. Only via a hidden way this option can be activated. For this purpose the user must open the file \TeamViewer\Data\settings\TeamViewer.ini and change the value of the key "nosave" from the integer 1 into the integer 0. For a better clarification of this hidden possibility I would recommend, that this feature will documented in a separate file named "settings.txt". This file should be pasted in the program folder teamviewer.

chrome portable -- update kills flash cookies

Submitted by ltwally on February 28, 2013 - 11:46am

Updating Portable-Chrome from 24 to 25 killed my Flash "cookies". I would like to retain them.

My upgrade process was simply to install PortableChrome 25 into the same folder 24 had been. I made a backup of the old 24 folder, first.

Is there a way to restore those Flash cookies?

Is there a better way to upgrade so that, next time, I don't lose them in the first place?

Thanks in advance.

Chrome portable - my experience

Submitted by tr00don on February 26, 2013 - 2:17pm

1. Chrome per se cannot auto-update as the required Google update service is not installed (for obvious reasons). Instead, install the Portable Apps Platform application, which allows you to install/uninstall AND automatically update portable apps as necessary. Add a shortcut to it in your Start menu and you're good to go.

Chrome Portable 25.0.1364.97 Stable infinitely loading, stuck at white screen, (no settings page)

Submitted by angad16 on February 23, 2013 - 6:28pm

I am using Chrome Portable 25.0.1364.97 Stable version.

As soon as the app launches, it gets stuck on a white page. Doesn't even load the startup page. I know it's trying to load something as the refresh button is changed to a stop button, but there is no activity in lower left corner. Doesn't even open any chrome setting page.

At first I thought that the network administrator might be blocking the access, but I downloaded the latest Firefox Portable and it works seamlessly.
