Cards and readers

Are cards (CompactFlash/Memory Stick/xD/et al) significantly faster (read/write speed) than regular USB flash drives (without a reader/adapter)? Also, how well do readers perform against regular flash drives? I know that card speeds will vary by type and model, but I want to know how they perform in general against conventional USB flash drives.

Pearl Harbor Day

I'd like to honor those who perished that one fateful day at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941, to the Japanese kamikazes. I know that most people don't really hold this day to any significance, but over 2,388 people were killed. One attack, so many people killed.

I'm not sure where we would be, or even if we would be, if the United States had not rebounded so quickly as we did. I know that many of you may not be Americans, but still. It was an awful day in world history, and should be remembered with gratitude towards all troops supporting their countries.

This is WAY off topic, but does anyone here own a smartphone?

I am looking at purchasing one for work and am swimming in options. I thought buying a computer was complicated.

Any suggestions.

Trying to stay under $300. There seem to be many options on eBay for that price.

What I would like is a Portable HD that can:
not cost more than 200 u.s. dollars
fit in a large pocket (as on a hoodie or coat)
not need a power cable in order to run on most machines
be at least 50 gigs or more in memory size

How would one go about connecting to a computer that is behind a router that does not have port forwarding (I HATE my router but my parents won't buy another one).
For example I am at a computer with an IP address of 78.63.49.174 and I want to connect to a computer with the IP address of 75.66.47.255 that is behind a router that ID's the local computer as 192.168.15.4. How could I access that computer remotely without installing any software on the destination pc?

*NOTE: The IP Addresses are NOT REAL and are used only for the purpose of this post
