Are rapid release apps overtaking the release schedule?

If you look back at the last few months of app releases, it's obvious that a large number of them are taken up by a small number of apps that have a rapid release cycle. Several apps have been updated 6 times, while other significant apps have been sitting in the queue since early December.
I know we have limited resources here, and I respect the huge amount of work done by the devs, which is why I worry that rapid release apps are taking up more than their fair share of their energies.

MP3GainPortable, don't run, not portable.

Submitted by thychoul on February 10, 2012 - 9:21am

The software MP3GainPortable don't run and display the error message below:

"Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"

The word "registered" in the error message confirms that the MP3GainPortable is not portable.

The developers needs fix the issue.

Need for portable pdf writer for Open Office

Submitted by ss400P0rt on February 9, 2012 - 10:32pm

I have read a lot of threads about the subject of pdf writers and haven't found an answer to my problem.

I am a volunteer teacher at the local computer club. I am showing the students how to do mail merge in Open Office. I can get letters and envelopes done with mail merge, but I cannot show the students what these documents will look like when printed.

Migrate from XAMP light to XAMP

Submitted by hgc2002 on February 9, 2012 - 6:34am

I've been using XAMP light for a while and it's amazing.

But now I need more stuff and XAMP has exactly what I need, unless my files.

I'm not an expert so I would appreciate any help about how to move my files from XAMP light to XAMP so I can keep all my applications (databases, apache configuration, and so on) in XAMP when I finally shutdown XAMP light.

Regards,
Herman.

Google on Portableapps.com

Submitted by R. on February 6, 2012 - 9:21am

For some time now, when loading portableapps.com, there will be a (more or less secret) connection to the Google website (IP 173.194.69.95), circumventing any blockers (like "Ghostery", "Disconnect", etc.). I don't want Google to know about every website that I visit and that it, unluckily, has managed to infest ;-). What's the deal?

Cursor bug in SeaMonkey 2.7?

Submitted by PortableDave on February 5, 2012 - 10:27am

I would like to say that I am a huge fan of Portable Apps 'SeaMonkey' & use it a lot at work. I have noticed that SM 2.6.1 portable hasn't been upgraded to SM 2.7 yet. This is quite fortuitous in my opinion as SeaMonkey 2.7 seems to be suffering from the same 'flash/Java cursor bug' that Firefox 10 is suffering from. I have returned to SM 2.6.1 on my C-Drive & 'wound-back' my Firefox portables to 9.0.1.

The bug appears to make the cursor disappear on certain sites like YouTube & also affects highlighting in the runbar (essentially making it impossible to highlight a Web address).
