portable apps downloaded from another site

Submitted by billyMass on February 4, 2012 - 3:13pm

hey

I've downloaded some portable apps from another site.
how can I be sure these apps are actually portable? don't have the source code or anything...

also, these apps are actually great, I want them to be part of PortableApps.com's suit - how can I pass it on the PotableApps.com's team for that purpose ?

thanks

this attack is happening with EVERY single thing i click on this website.
I.P. address this attack is coming from is 72.32.40.232

Trying to Lighten the Load

Submitted by benningbound12 on January 29, 2012 - 6:03pm

Trying to make my netbook run faster in prep for taking it to ocs, so that it can pull weight like a full size computer. Otherwise, the base will make me buy one and charge me through the nose to do so. I am trying to dump some of my heavier programs and apps. Portableapps seemed like a good substitute. Can portableapps do a good job of taking the place of most programs on a netbook? I don't want to have to keep track of a jump drive through ocs so I was just going to install and use it straight from my netbook. Is this a good idea?

What should be deleted when a portable app is closed?

I'm not new to portable apps and have been using them for the past six years.

I usually take a separate back-up of my data at work just for my own piece of mind. To do this I use Synkron portable. It's nice and convenient. I assumed that most portable apps install 'something' to the host machine when they are opened, but then 'clean their trail' when they exit.

Do any of the Music apps support scrobbling via Last.fm?

I've been using foobar and it allows scrobbling via the last.fm site with it's built in setting. (I can't use the last.fm app because I can't install stuff at work.)

I just recently installed the portable apps suite and love the update feature. Sadly, I can't figure out how to install outside portable apps in this suite. (I was using PStart before. I loved the simplicity, but the ability to auto update trumps all.)

Do any of the music apps in the "Portable App Directory" enable scrobbling support?
