PortableApps.com Platform

I had a PortableApps USB go bad the other day so I got an extra USB and put my backup from two weeks ago on there. Now I hit the PortableApps Start icon, the menu comes up like it should but the rest of my desktop icons disappears. It only happens on my PortableApps USB and none of the others.

It's screwing with Windows explorer.exe somehow. I ran the built-in repair tool on Windowsand it didn't find any errors.

Is the USB corrupt?

Is there something wrong explorer.exe?

Is there something wrong with my icon database?

I has been a few weeks since I could properly update my portable apps with the Updater.
The downloads the connection speed slowly goes down and eventually the connection drops, an error message is displayed and to whole process fails.

Hi! I've been an avid user of PortableApps platform for more than a decade now.
The only thing I never liked in it was slow loading time. Is there any way to increase it? Maybe PAP can cache the list of apps and update it in background?

I am having some issues with PortableApps when switching my 6TB HDD from laptop to PC.

Basically, I may spend few weeks using a laptop and then switch back to my deskptop. In order to always have the same apps and configs, I am using this hdd but lately I am unable to load any portable app I used on the laptop, or even worse, I can start ThunderBird but the emails and accounts are gone.

My guess is it's not 100% PA fault, or at all, but something related with Windows 10 permissions or something (which I left unchanged since the installation).

+ Button "Download only" + checkbox + field "destination path".
+ Checkbox "MD5" for download appfile.md5 in addition .
+ Checkbox "SHA256" for download appfile.sha256 in addition.

Objectif :

For users of portableapps.com, only one download for many pc and/or pc offline.
For portableaaps.com, less traffic.

When selecting both Firefox and Firefox developer version only one of them will update/install. Then I have to select again not updated/installed firefox to update/install it.

Same thing with java (jre, jdk).

Hi. I use Win 8.1 and when I simply open the Options menu in PortableApps, after closing it always opens a strange explorer window that doesn't have nothing inside, no buttons, no bars, nothing. The only way to close this window is going in the bottom taskbar and closing this windor from there.

Nothing very dangerous, but strange.

I have two computers running Windows 10 Pro. Both computers have the taskbar set to auto hide in desktop mode. In the last day or so, the PortableApps menu has started behaving badly on both computers. When i click on the PortableApps icon on the menu, and move the mouse toward the menu, the menu immediately disappears. If I turn off auto hide, the PortableApps menu behaves normally.

As I said, this is new behavior and NOT related to any platform update. I have been using PortableApps.com in this configuration for years with no problems.

I love your work. Recently I am using an extra screen for working and I set the external one as the main desktop instead of my NB's built-in one. PortableApps launcher moves after the restoring from the screen's power-saving suspending. I think this is because the 2 screens have different resolutions.

I wonder if it's possible to have a new UI design like Windows 11. The launcher is located at the centre of the screen with a flexible size by the number of apps.

Would it be possible to make a small change to the “Download New Portable Apps” dialog to allow all apps in a Category to be selected, instead of having to select them individually?
