Submitted by Francesco64 on August 26, 2012 - 12:43pm

Hello everybody, I am new here, so it's possible You already have heard this question dozens of times, but at least You could send me to the right zone of the forum or just answer here. I downloaded lots of "paf" applications, but I would like to try and convert some freeware programs downloaded from the web. I tried to see how to do on the website, but I couldn't find it.Where is it, or how to? Another question, what should I do to make my USB pendrive self-boot the main program just after Windows has opened? Thanks in advance!!

Suggestion of a new function : file's type association

Submitted by Aioros on August 26, 2012 - 6:20am

hello everyone,

i would like to suggest a function of Platform: a temporary file association function.

for example, when Platform run, it will create a temporary association between file's type and portableapps, defined by user
- .zip / 7zip
- .tex / texmaker
- .txt / vim
- etc.

and when Platform close, it will reset these associations by default.

Some portableapps have already this function, like some mp3 player. I think it will be very useful for Portableusers.

require feature: assign the loader's parameter in appinfo.ini. -- ShellExecure(.., LPCTSTR lpParameters , ..)

Submitted by freenod01 on August 26, 2012 - 2:06am

1. Detail:
the Platform-Menu use ShellExecute to run the loader, which is from appinfo.ini -> Control -> Start.
In the source we can see:
ShellExecute(0,'open', ###CommandLine, Nil, ###WorkingDirectory, SW_SHOWNORMAL);

the 4# parameter is "LPCTSTR lpParameters", and its value is nil.

What I want is that I can config the lpParameters in appinfo.ini

2. Why:

for me, the PortableSuite is not only an portable softwate collection, but also an GreenSoftware launcher.

there are too much Green Software.
sometime PortableApps.com Launcher or Installer is too heavy.

Hi! I'm running the portableapps suite from my dropbox folder and it all works great, but I'm wondering if it is possible to add applications on other directories, since apps like libreoffice can take a lot of space, I don't want them taking up my dropbox space.

So, to say, I have the portableapps suite in C:\Users\User\Dropbox\Portableapps, can I add apps in C:\Portableapps\ and have them appear in the portableapps suite menu?

Thanks!

Your "PortableApps.com Platform Features" page for 10.1.2 says 'You can organize apps into folders automatically or create your own that work the way you think.'

I am running 10.1.2 (according to the platform help/about). I cannot find any evidence whatsoever that this is possible nor any documentation whatsoever about this feature except the claim on your 'features' page and a few queries about it from several years ago on the forums.

Am I missing something obvious? How do you do this?

Installers update

Excuse me Johm, could you update the KompozZer and Fotografix installers?
Both softwares don't get updates for a long time but many people need the new installer with default installation path.
It seems a strange request but I assure you it's for an important accessibility cause.
I hope in your reply, so thanks a lot in advance.

Confused

Submitted by Astronomyrocks on August 12, 2012 - 4:22am

Hi
I am confused about how to get portable apps onto my USB and I have 3 questions.

Question1:
Am I right in thinking that I can either download the PortableApps.com Platform 10.1.2 and get all of the apps in one go. Or I can download the apps individually of the get apps pages. Is that correct?

Question3:
If all of the above is correct and I am planning on downloading at least 30 of the apps am I best of downloading the all in one go using the PortableApps.com Platform 10.1.2 ?

Question3:
Is there a how to guide anywhere that would take me through it step by step?

PLEASE HELP

I like the idea of this software platform and would like to give it a try.. however, I am unable to install it to my 16GB USB 3.0 flash drive. I don't understand. It runs out of storage space. Yet you can buy 8GB pre-installed drive?? Very frustrating

PA.c Updater Proxy Settings

Submitted by dogtowndrums on August 2, 2012 - 11:53pm

Is there any way to manually configure the PA.c updater to work independent of MSIE settings (pushed via network policy) behind an ISA firewall? I'm able to use the Firefox portable app by manually clearing the proxy settings and Chrome portable by using the --no-proxy-server argument.

Now when I attempt to run the updater I get an error:

Unable to connect to PortableApps.com to retrieve portable apps. Please try again later. [InvalidFilePossibleNoConnectionOrFirewall]
