I cannot find wishes topic
Hi,
After having to send my laptop to be repaired, I dug out my old PortableApps USB drive so that I can use whatever Windows PC that I have available to me.
I haven|t used my old PortableApps drive for a couple of years or so, but had never experienced any problems with it.
Now however, on the first PC that I plug my drive into, I am unable to launch any of my apps from the start menu. I can access my folders, and files from the PortableApps menu (but the back and several of the "Manage Apps" options also don't work).
A portable app means to me: easy to handle, easy to move where i want, easy to backup. Just the feeling of a lightweighted, clean app.
But what i feel using the portableapps platform is exactly the opposite of this.
Hey. Discovered : I have one year of use browser opera, and just now found out that it has addons ! !I have_excellent suggestion , namely: Let's share them !
P.S. I posted in the section "/node/add/forum/0" - There? If not , move !
I think it would help a lot of people if the platform regularly or manually lists the apps you have installed and saves the options to your portableapps.com account that way if you format your flash drive or it gets lost or broken you dont have to think about what you had installed on it, you just go to the platform click something that says restore from site or something like that and it downloads all the apps and options you had with it. And does anybody know when 12 betas are supposed to start being released?
Hi.
I've noticed the following bug.
When installing an app, it gives you an option to give a custom name to destination folder. I gave "FirefoxPortable" the name of "[INTERNET]FirefoxPortable", and gave the [INTERNET] prefix to all the apps that go under Internet category. I gave other prefixes to other apps to keep them organised and easier to find also when accessing them from a file browser without neeeding to start the PA platform (which takes to long to load all the apps from my USB stick).
Could it be my flash drive or the computer? But when I try and run either Firefox or chrome the browser is super slow and it freezes. It will say that Shockwave has stopped. Its only a 4 GB, I have a new 32 Gb I will try with a new install of PortableApps.
Thanks,
I was wondering if it's in any way 'unsafe' to keep files here. For example I use Audacity and keep the Lame/FFMPEG files here. But also it's a convenient place to keep other stuff like Sounds for certain apps like KkMenu, as well as Roms and VST collections. Rather than keep them in the Documents folder where they aren't ever really needed to be accessed directly puts them 'in the way.'
Currently I've created a directory called - Common Files - but would rather use the existing one if it's ok to do so.
Thanks
Since I wasn't able to glean an appropriate answer from searching the forums I figured I'd post this. I was wondering what the practical limits were for the total number of apps that menu system will support?
I use a 64 gig stick formatted as exFAT. It has just under 900 separate portable apps stored on it. Occasionally the menu crashes. Sometimes it just freezes, other times it throws exceptions. This doesn't happen a lot, not enough anyway for me to submit a bug, but I was just wondering what the expected limits are.
I am a computer repair tech by trade and I have clients all over the state. Some of them I access their computers remotely. Is there a way to run my portable apps remotely on their computers or would I have to download the software on their computer and delete it when I'm done?
