Stellarium causes permanentely problems:
1) I installed and it said always NO SPACE and I found the information copied the ini file and then the message came "encountered error, must close down".
I really do not understand why portableapps.com recommends such rubbish applic.

I post this in "platform" forum because it looks like the issue is not application specific :
- when I update Firefox or Thunderbird with PortableApps Updater, the application language automatically switch to english after installation.
- if I download the french version and run a manual update, the language is french, as expected.
I'm wondering if PortableApps Updater is aware of user language when it downloads updates for firefox and thunderbird.
Any ideas ?

Can I download the source of portableapps menu, change some code (for my own purpose) compile and use it only in my own USB drive? with no problems about copyright or this stuff?

and is it possible, change the source and compile my version? what compiler do I need?

and what is the language that it is built? I know something about C/C++

I am trying to make TeXnicCenter portable (and make it work with miktex-portable), I have managed to make it start just fine, but since it saves most of the settings to registry I have stumbled upon problems.

The registry key values has directory paths such as:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ToolsCenter\TeXnicCenter\Profiles\LaTeX => PDF]
"LatexPath"="C:\\ProgramCopies\\miktex-portable\\miktex\\bin\\pdflatex.exe"
"BibTexPath"="C:\\ProgramCopies\\miktex-portable\\miktex\\bin\\bibtex.exe"

Hello, I tried to search out more information on my particular isssues to no avail. I downloaded/installed Portable Apps and must have goofed it up somehow, or still need to do something, or its corrupted by me..? OR need more instruction on operation/functioning. On install, I created a new folder (PORTAPPS) which it all resides in (inside the Virtual Expander file), and the "start portable apps" circled arrow doesn't launch any programs within, it just has a LONG error message can not find: -WW/PORTAPPS blah blah..... (which i could post).

At this time I use one (1) external HDD to run PortableApps. I need to expand the disk space. I have two (2) more external HDD on which I would like to store Media such as Pictures and Music.

Is it possible to use three (3) separate external disk drives, where one contains the primary "PortableApps" menu, and the other two (2) drives contain the Documents and Media?

In other words, can I specify the directory or drive which the PortableApps menu uses as the Documents, Music, Pictures, and Videos directories?

I installed the Portable apps Suite and have several suggestions:

1. "Get a new app" should bring up a window that lists the apps from the web site by category that you can drill down too. You tick the apps you want, it lists the amount of space required (and turns red if you don't have enough), it then downloads and installs them automagically.
2. You should be able to check and update portable apps to the latest version.
3. You should be able to set a different browser the Suite uses, I use Opera USB and want any links the Suite opens to use Opera instead.

In the PortableApps.com website Applications page,in the list of applications mentioning Version info will be very helpful to avoid opening of the application for download and finding it as the version already have is time consuming.

Hi Everyone,

I notice when I start Portable Apps, it shows a progress meter that takes somewhere around 2 minutes to complete. Obviously it's reading through all my app directories, right? Is there any way to cache this, or improve it, other than deleting unneeded apps?
