Possible bug in PA Installer

Submitted by beppegg on June 11, 2010 - 7:10am

Hi all,

While I was working in portabilizing GrindStone, I've found a (possible) bug in the PA Installer: Grindstone installed itself in "%PROGRAMFILES%/Grindstone 2", and register its path in "HKLM\Software\Grindstone 2" (with spaces in the name). I've tried to use the option [CopyLocalFiles] section as following:

[CopyLocalFiles]
CopyLocalFiles=false
CopyFromRegPath=HKLM\Software\Grindstone 2
CopyFromRegKey=Install_Dir
CopyFromRegRemoveDirectories=0
CopyFromDirectory=%PROGRAMFILES%\GrindStone 2
CopyToDirectory=App\GrindStone 2

Autorun issue

Submitted by Ybother on June 10, 2010 - 1:27pm

I know, Autorun problems are so frequently asked that it seems embarrasing to aks another, but my issue is different.

When I plug the thumbdrive in, the autorun "scan" pops up, then brings up the options for what to run. But the PAP is not one of them. The drive gets the default PA icon, but that's all. There is no option to run PAP in the right-click menu.

I'm using the 2.0 Beta 4 platform, but I don't see any difference between the Autorun.inf file it creates and older versions.

This is the content of the Autorun.inf file:

menu

Trojan infection

Submitted by ssobol on June 7, 2010 - 3:00pm

When trying to install Portable Apps Platform 1.6.1 my McAfee on access scanner gives a VirusScan Alert saying that the application files contain an Artemis!9A090B785DE0 trojan infection. This causes the Portable Apps .exe file to be deleted from my system. Ths installation program was downloaded following your download links (SourceForge).

[Fixed] Installer 2.0 Language Files

Submitted by prapper on June 4, 2010 - 6:31am

These are being installed into "Other\Source\Languages". Is that right? Also, not to nit-pick, but none of the 11 new ones have actually been translated?

EDIT: OK, I guess this is something to to with the updater. I could delete this but I'll leave it here to add to my collection of idiotic posts. Or if someone else wants to do it, feel free! Sorry about that Smile

Updating the Platform

Submitted by Merle on June 3, 2010 - 4:44pm

(I'm very new to PortableApps, so please excuse me for the ignorance.)
As 2.0 is about to come out, I'm wondering how to update my platform. Do I just install the new one over it, without losing old information and getting all the benefits of the new one? Or do I have to uninstall and reinstall? I'm pretty sure it's the first, but when I do so, will there be any information lost at all, old files, or even Firefox bookmarks and history? Is there anything I should do beforehand, such as making backups or anything? Thanks.
