PortableApps.com Platform

Hello.
First off, thanks for the excellent app! I am wondering if I can display more apps than 20 like native Windows start menu. If not, hope it will have in the next update.

In a nutshell;

using FF or TB portable on a machine with FF or TB installed mess up with my profile... again...
and I'm slowly doubting the name "portable" if two far far away path are messing up eachother (or more my portable profile)
C:\Users\XYZ\Appdata\Roaming\Firefox\... VS P:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile

So... now what? Definitely making backups every time after closing, because,

1. WHO do that?
and 2. This will take a long time...
(3. Shouldn't that happen after all?)

I'm having trouble installing/updating any app,
e.g. chrome portable update(s),
I've just downloaded the latest update and
it is an online installer,
it needs to connect in order to download,
however that doesn't seem possible,

my network uses automatic proxy configuration script and McAfee Web Gateway,

so, how could I update my work chrome?

are there any offline chrome portable installers?

or is synchronizing with a usb disk the only solution?

What is the point of developing a "platform" that can't be used? Why waste our time with useless junk?
I was one of the many people stupid enough to waste my time downloading your useless platform and apps.
Every time I insert the usb stick in a new laptop, ALL my customizations are GONE - and I mean everything!
This happens whether I use Chrome, Firefox, Opera or any other browser. Nothing is retained.

Having updated the platform to V16 I notice that the popup menu is now almost all black icons - doesn't look very good.

(Windows 10 64 bit)

I'm a little surprised about a new yellow icon. It appears in the main menu above the writing "PortableApps.com" and consists of three yellow semicircles with a vertical line (like a multi-armed candlestick).

What does this mean? When you click on it it disappears!

I also can't say exactly since when this appears. I only noticed this now after the update to V16.

Hi, when I start the PortableApps-Programm above the PortableApps-Icon at the right side a menora (candlelight holder) is shown. What does this mean?

Hi,

Had a broken portable apps setup on my desktop pc and two laptops I updated on.
In the end I got it all working again, and for other people and the devs I wanted to leave a note on this..

What I did was:
1. Rename the original portableapps folder to portableapps.old
2. Downloaded the v16 installer and installed as a Full version.
3. Moved all my installed apps over to the new install. Had to install a new app to see where it would end up...
4. Restarted the new portable app launcher.

Platform 16.0 Error message:

Access violation at address 00566CE4 in module 'PortableAppsPlatform.exe'. Read of address 000001D0.

Is there a way a PortableApps program can be ignored during updates so the updater will not list it as an option to update?

I know I can just rename or move the folder but that will break file associations and shortcuts.

An ignore option for each app would help work around problems like Notepad++ 7.6.0 breaking portable Notepad++'s plugins. I could just stick with 7.5.9 and set PortableApps to ignore it when doing updates. Hopefully, Notepad++ gets fixed and the updates can be turned back on.
