[Fixed] Platform shows "run C:\..." instead of "Run Program" after 26.2.2 update

After updating the platform version from 26.2.1 to 26.2.2, when updating a program, it don't show "Installing Firefox" or "Installing XnView" anymore, but instead things like "Run: "C:\Users\(name)\AppData\Local\Temp\nssDAD0.tmp\XnViewPortable.paf.exe" /DESTINATION="X:\PortableA

When absolute path length is greater than 260 characters, PortableApps Platform can not open app

Submitted by Mark888 on September 24, 2023 - 8:46am

As suggested, I shall open a new thread to track this issue.

I have multiple apps/utilities that were categorized into folders, under folder I just put directory symlinks to the real directories.

Because the real directories were categorized into folders, sometimes its paths were a bit long. I managed it somehow.

However, whenever the absolute path length is greater than 260 characters, the app can not be opened from the Platform.

A question and a request for IrfanView

Submitted by Winnie_W on September 18, 2023 - 5:28am

I want to know why the installer of Irfanview installs both the 32 bit and the 64 bit versions of the program.

The develeper of Irfanview has updated a few plugins without changing the version number of the program.

Two format plugins contains security fixes, which is important especially for the WebP format.

Updater uninstalls apps that were not downloaded

Submitted by Swwright on September 9, 2023 - 2:21pm

There's a bug in the updater: it uninstalls apps even if there is not a replacement.

1. Wait until there are two or more updates to be downloaded.
2. Begin the update process.
3. Cancel each of the downloads.
At the end of the downloads, the updater will uninstall all apps to be updated, then will discover the update files are not present and display an error for each of them. (Sure would be nice if the updater had a log, the error display vanished rather quickly.)

Installing PortableAppss without installation (W10)

In our company we have any installations blocked by different security agents. However, we can unzip things and run them. I want to use couple applications (e.g. Thunderbird) on the PC and was hoping that PortableApps would help. However, I realized that in order to even use the Portable Apps I first need to install it - which completely defeats the purpose of what I thought PortableApps is supposed to be. I tried to read through different documentations but everywhere I see that I first need to 'install it'.
