Hi,
I'd like to block PortableApps platform updates, but still to be able to update all apps. Is it possible?
When I open portable apps, it starts at the top right corner of the monitor.
I then move it down to the bottom right location of the monitor.
Upon shutting down and restart, portable apps returns to the top right corner of the monitor.
This is a recent issue and did not exist prior to February 2024.
This appears to have started with portableApps 29.3
PortableApps 29.5
Windows 8.1 64bit
Single monitor
So can't find the answer I am looking for.
When I load PA the box comes up to update the platform.
I click and the message comes up to close all instances.
If I close all instances (Portable Apps) then the box to update also closes!!!!
What am I doing wrong?
jdkPortable and OpenJDK Portable, and perhaps some other apps as well, are unique in how they install their folders as subfolders under CommonFiles.
It seems the only official way to make the app launch on Windows Startup is to choose this option in the installation wizard.
If you didn't, you're screwed and have to do it manually (preferably via reinstallation), although it would seem to belong to the Advanced settings.
The app arrives as 2 folders and 1 file:
To be honest, I've kept just the PortableApps subfolder as its own standalone folder, because I don't understand the purpose of the other folder and file. Start.exe seems like a shortcut to PortableApps\PortableApps.com\PortableAppsPlatform.exe although it's a real file that takes a couple of MB.
May I ask what is the purpose of them?
Most posts I've looked at talk about individual apps getting an NSIS error, and the solution is usually to just reinstall the app. However, what do you do when the PortableApps launcher itself is getting a NSIS error? How do I reinstall PortableApps without losing my apps and settings?
Hey everyone, hope you are doing well. I am trying to currently download GoogleChromePortable64_74.0.3729.169_online.paf.exe but each time I try to run the installer I get this error. https://prnt.sc/UYnblD5WqW9X This is happening on pretty much any older version of chrome I try to install with the exception of the recent ones released in the last 6 months.
I have a program that has changed the xxx.exe name and when I click to execute , it cannot find the correct file. Where do I edit the file execution name in PortableApps?
I selected 100 apps, pressed next and download started. That was a shock.
No way to pause or cancel. Being poor most of the downloads failed 6 hours later due to bandwidth congestion and thus the hours of selection (comparing last updated dates) were lost. YES this is a fault.
FAULT
[Next] should be renamed [Download] instead of simply hiding this information in the support page where it is too late for poor people. Tying up their net for hours with regets unless they reboot.
