Hello my name is Thomas,
Hello. I have a problem to start (run) or install portable applications. QOwnNotes for example.
Error window:
QOwnNotesPortable.exe - Application Error
The application was unabel to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.
Operating system win 10, Portable platform updated yesterday. And Windows defender like an antivir.
Thnak you for your answers and help.
Every time I try to use the backup feature on the Portable App, it fails.
Feature request: pop-up tool tip
I have a lot of apps installed in the Platform, and love it. Problem is, that for apps I use rarely, I can't always remember from the cryptic names what they do. It would be helpful to have a pop-up tooltip describing the applications functions briefly when I hover over the app name. Preferably it would be customizable also. Thanks.
I installed PA to a cloud drive, pCloud. And a few apps are giving me a similar error message. Most notably the PA platform when I try and close it. A box pops up and says:
Unable to write to P:\Portable Apps\PortableApps\PortableApps.com\Data\PortableAppsMenu.ini
This box cascades on my screen, and I am only able to get past it by invoking task manager and ending the PA process.
Another App that gives me a similar message is FileZilla when I try and close it.
I'm on Windows 10 using pCloud.
Thanks.
Hello John,
This one pops out on the first launch after the latest updated Windows x64 boots.
It's on the latest PortableAppsPlatform.
Thanks and regards
Tony
IIRC, when I tried Portable Apps years ago, there was a way to lock down access to what I have on my USB stick so if I lost it and someone plugged it into their computer, they couldn't easily become me, already logged in to a half-dozen websites as stored on the USB stick.
I couldn't find it with the current release, maybe it's not there, maybe I don't recall it correctly.
Do I need to use a password protected / encrypted USB stick? or is the functionality still in the Portable Apps software?
There are lots of threads & a FAQ on disabling the Splash screen. (Thank you for providing that option.)
But the initial launch of our Python free & open-source project has a LOT of housekeeping to do. It compiles & caches all that Python source. Plus, all this 1st launch housekeeping takes significantly longer on an external USB port than internal devices riding that broader bus.

Hello,
Lately I am seeing the Access Violation error with the latest updated platform -

I just tried updating AndreaMosaic, ClamWin, and Yumi via PortableApps.com Platform (PAP). All 3 downloaded. Yumi updated fine. Then I got an error from PAP stating that AndreaMosaic and ClamWin did not download. But I watched them download via a network monitor, so I know they did. I have a hunch the wrong error message is being delivered to users when the hash does not match.
(And why wouldn't the hashes be matching?... did you forget to update them for the new versions?)
I wanted a little while, and repeated the process; then it all worked.
