Update Portable Apps from the Command Line

Submitted by atactic on February 22, 2016 - 4:03pm

Hi,
I'm using Portable apps to access apps from all the virtual machines from a common network location. This saves me the time, effort, and space installing all these apps to ~ 120 virtual machines. I find that updates, however are a pain. I'd like to have one system performing the updates to the network location, and the others not. Is there a way I can run the updates from the command line? This will allow me to configure PA to not run updates on startup on all VM's , And schedule updates from only one desktop.

Thanks in advance for your help,
atactic

Stopping certain apps from auto-updating ...

Submitted by softfoot on February 19, 2016 - 8:28am

I have an app that I have extensively "tweaked" to behave as I want, but every time the package is updated I lose most of my changes, which is very irritating to say the least.

I want all of the remaining packages to continue updating - just stop this one.

I'm happy to sort out the package in question manually as I can use a merge tool to sort out the differences.

Is there a way to do this?? All suggestions welcome.

[Feature Request] Updates - Add checkbox for none/all updates

Submitted by bobtoo on February 11, 2016 - 1:44am

PortableApps checks for updates on startup and on request.
If there are many updates and I am on a slow connection, I prefer to update only a few apps at a time.

After checking for updates, window "PortableApps.com Update" pops up

Current Process
... The checkbox for each available update is checked
... For each update I want to defer, I have to uncheck that checkbox

Hello there,

==============
System setup:
OS: Windows 7, 64 bit
Portable Apps Platform: 12.2
McAfee VirusScan / SiteAdvisor / AntiSpyware Enterprise
Windows Firewall
================

Just in the last couple of days when trying to update apps at various times of the day I've constantly been getting the message "The PortableApps.com website is temporarily inaccessible due to maintenance and the app cannot be downloaded". Not had any problem like this in 3+ years using PortableApps.

CITRIX-Desktop Links disappearing

Submitted by jhabi on February 3, 2016 - 3:21am

Hello,

i'm using portable-apps in a citrix desktop environment. Works fine, but as soon as i start the platform my desktop-icons disappear. Free Commander/WinExplorer shows them, there i can start/use them, but they are simply not visible on the desktop itself. When I exit the platform, the desktop-icons reappear.

Known topic? Couldnt find any corresponding via 'Search: Citrix'.

Thanks in advance,
Joern

SQLiteBrowser and TeamViewer is aren't updated

Submitted by AutopilotNN on January 22, 2016 - 4:43am

When updating from a platform all appendices are updated, but SQLiteBrowser and TeamViewer give out a mistake during connection on Windows XP SP3 system. It isn't possible to be updated. Under Windows 7 everything works.

The link works at downloading in the Chrome browser, but in IE 6 the mistake is given.
I understand that my system became outdated but why it influences only updating of these programs.
I observe such behavior for a long time.

Problems using the platform from which starts

Submitted by llumby on January 11, 2016 - 6:50pm

Hi everyone!

I have a problem since a few days ago with my platform.

Using PortableApps installed on a laptop, specifically in the cloud, Box.com.
Now, when you start the computer and automatically launches the platform (I've set to boot as well), the following message appears:

"PortableApps.com or App Directory Updater is already running. It may be that the Platform is checking updates at startup. Please allow these instances are completed before starting another."

Even when I try to update the platform.
