Pidgin: PortableSuite-Style bug... same one as was in PortableGIMP

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on April 19, 2006 - 1:54pm

The bug I pointed out a couple weeks ago with the PortableGIMP wrapper (https://portableapps.com/node/1382) also exists in PortableGAIM. Basically, it breaks a PortableSuite-Style install.

Something tells me that this bug got carried over to PortableGIMP from here... Smile

PortableGAIM.nsi; Line 153: "Apps" instead of "App"

Miranda: wow!

Submitted by justin on April 18, 2006 - 3:24pm

I had been using your beta version of PortableMiranda for some time and I am impressed with the new version as a whole. I was able to get it down to about 1MB after eliminating unneeded plugins (every one except for AIM, Jabber, and IRC, the only three that I use). Once the History Sweeper plugin is added, it is complete Smile I would recommend adding this by default if you can, it really is needed. Congrats on another great PortableApp!!

Miranda: So many things

Perhaps I got too comfortable with P. Gaim, but isn't there a way to block individuals because I've not been able to find it.

Miranda is good, but the overall intuitiveness of GAIM to me is much more of a convenience than offered by Miranda. Nevertheless, I'm sure there is an add on or some other type of app that would or could make the transition somewhat more user friendly.

Pidgin: Gaim loads, attempts to connect, then freezes and closes.

I use PortableGaim for Google Talk, and up till now it's been working fine. It's set to autologin, so I open Gaim, I get the splash screen, it attempts to connect, then it closes and gives me this error [image].

Any ideas? Just before that, I got an error saying that C++ something had asked the application to close in an unexpected way (or some such gobbledygook), but I haven't been able to recreate it.

FILEZILLA OPEN WINDOWS SIZE PROBLEMS.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on April 7, 2006 - 11:45pm

I am using Portable Filezilla which is great.

However it has a regular problem that every time I close it and open it again it opens in a very small window. Now I have to streach it and RESIZE the inner windows PANS to make it the way I like. But when it is closed it forgets everything and again opens in a small windows size, with the inner pans like local and server all messed up in size.

If it has a last open windows setting save option and last viewing pan setting remember option it would make it great.

It becomes very irritating to every time keep streaching and setting the windows sizes to appropriate views use each time you open the programme.

Pidgin: Gaim not loading.

I downloaded the file, unzipped it (both 1.5 and 2, single language and multilingual, i've tried all 4).

When I run the program, splash screen pops up, then I get an hourglass for a few seconds, and then nothing. gaim is a running process but it's not visible on my screen and doesn't do anything.

Notes:

I have GTK 2.0 installed on the computer (I use easytag). I've tried uninstalling it and running with it not installed, this does nothing. Reinstalling it does nothing either.

Gaim has never been installed on the computer. I double checked, and there are no gaim settings in %appdata%

Pidgin: gaim crash

i am trying to use portable gaim from school. i start it, it connects to all the protocols, but after a little bit it just closes, without saying anything at all. it just closes. i've tried to use it both from the pen and from the hard disk, it has the same problem. from the computer at home, though, it works perfectly from the pen.

any ideas?

(i've tried both 1.50 and 2.0, same problem)
