Miranda registry entry

Submitted by wombat on September 4, 2006 - 5:25pm

I've noticed that as Miranda IM Portable starts up, it adds a registry entry to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Miranda
Within that, it adds a (Default) key and an Install_Dir key. The Install_Dir holds the directory path of wherever you ran the program from.

Since this is a portable app, shouldn't it prevent/remove these leftover registry keys?

Portable FileZilla isnt 100% portable

Submitted by snelhest on September 4, 2006 - 9:37am

Ive been using FileZilla portable for a while and i have noticed one thing. When you connect to a shell (via ssh2) you have to accept the key (you can choose to allways accept it which i did). When i use filezilla on another computer you have to accept it again. So i think this "setting" is stored in the registry. A reason for that is maybe that filezilla uses FzSFtp.exe to connect to shells and that this file havent been included in the nsis script.

Editing files with FileZilla

Submitted by bobsi18 on August 30, 2006 - 5:07am

Hey there ppls... I've just downloaded filezilla to use on my usb drive. I am hoping to be able to edit files from the server directly - I've figured out how to edit the file (e.g. I've set up the connections in the settings area, and I can right click on the file and choose 'view/edit', where I can then edit the file using my chosen editor), however when i save the edited file, it doesn't upload the new one - I have to manually find the file and upload it. Is there something I'm missing to make this easier?

Thanks,
~bobsi18~

Pidgin: <user@hotmail.com> disconnected: Connection error... Write error

Submitted by efa on August 29, 2006 - 6:14pm

I have GIMP 2.2.13 and GTK 2.8.18 installed as non portable on a Win2K system.
Then I know the non portable Gaim is incompatible with GTK 2.8.x, as reported here:
http://gaim.sourceforge.net/win32/
GTK+ 2.8.x Unable to connect

So I downloaded the Portable Gaim 2.0.0beta3.1, that have GTK 2.6 statically linked.
I expanded the exe files, copied the directory in \Programs
When I tryied to start PortableGaim, it seems to work correctly, but just immediately after I recreate my MSN account, PortableGaim start to give me the same error that give me the normal Gaim:
" disconnected: Connection error... Write error"
