Pidgin: How to change the language of portable gaim interface?

Submitted by camus on May 17, 2006 - 9:01am

Hi all,

In fact, I'm the first time to use portable gaim, after I download the 1.5 (Multilingual), the default language of interface is English, and I want to change it to Chinese, I have already try to replace whole the "locate" directory into my portable HD, but it still cannot make any change...

And I found that, if I run the portable gaim in my home PC (My PC is already installed gaim 1.5), it can show the Chinese interface, if I run the portable gaim in other PC, it will change back to English...what should I do? Please help me...

so far the only way i can access my home linux server is thru ftp port 21 with filezilla. thats the only thing that gets thru.

i have tried the following with no success.

remote desktop(windows)
vnc(both)
webmin.
ssh
telnet with putty

and ftp with ssh doesnt work either
so far the only things i can do are my web page and ftp.
now i am able to get thru with normal ftp but i dont like it becuase of security issues.

does anyone know of a way to get command line access so i can upload and download.

Pidgin: start-up error message

Submitted by lm8 on April 22, 2006 - 2:27pm

Don't know if this has been covered in another post, but I did a search and couldn't find the exact error message I'm getting. When I start up Gaim and a couple of the other portable apps I've downloaded, I'm getting the following error message:

There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk3\DR6

I hit continue and the application comes up fine. Is there something I can change in the settings somewhere to eliminate the error message?

Thanks.

Miranda: Profiles going in the wrong place.

I'm using an INI for PortableMiranda, and instead of the profile going into my designated settings folder (PortableMiranda Files\settings), they're ending up in the application folder. If I don't use the INI, this isn't a problem--the profiles go into settings. However, due to my unique directory structure, I need to use the INI. This is what my INI looks like...

[PortableMiranda]
MirandaDirectory=PortableMiranda Files\application
SettingsDirectory=PortableMiranda Files\settings
MirandaExecutable=miranda32.exe
AdditionalParameters=
WaitForMiranda=false
DisableSplashScreen=true

Pidgin: PortableSuite-Style bug... same one as was in PortableGIMP

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on April 19, 2006 - 1:54pm

The bug I pointed out a couple weeks ago with the PortableGIMP wrapper (https://portableapps.com/node/1382) also exists in PortableGAIM. Basically, it breaks a PortableSuite-Style install.

Something tells me that this bug got carried over to PortableGIMP from here... Smile

PortableGAIM.nsi; Line 153: "Apps" instead of "App"

Cheers,
Turtle
