Error during Chrome update

Submitted by wetabax on February 26, 2024 - 12:51pm

Hi, despite having done what an user suggested = copy Chrome.ini to the same folder as Chrome.exe, I continue to receive this message:

Error during upgrading: Upgrade fails due following (código do erro 1: 0X80004005).
More:
Versão 122.0.6261.70 (Versão oficial) 64 bits

That's it. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled again. Doesn't make any difference.
thanks for any help

Which is more private, using Chrome Portable or --user-data-dir argument for installed Chrome?

Submitted by boogadie on February 3, 2024 - 9:32pm

I use Chrome Portable because official Chrome doesn't let me choose an install location and I don't want my user data on my C: drive. I recently learned you can use the --user-data-dir argument in a shortcut to specify a profile location in official Chrome which would basically make it like a portable version.

Since I'm already using Chrome Portable I wonder if I should bother. Is one more private and secure than the other? I can see that Chrome Portable's data is temporarily in AppData while in use and then after I close the browser the folder gets deleted.

Chrome Online Updater

Submitted by An Unused Username on January 30, 2024 - 2:44pm

There are multiple copies of Chrome portable I need to regularly update within my househould. Even though we have fast internet, the online updater is often very slow. And having to deal with that on multiple PCs with every single update is becoming an annoying time sink. Is there any way to get an offline version like Firefox?

PuTTY: Multiple Instances with different user

Submitted by neuling on January 8, 2024 - 6:30am

Hello community,
“Another instance of PuTTY is already running. Please close other instances of PuTTY before starting PuTTY Portable.”

This is the error message we get when...
1) Install PuTTY Portable at Workstation.
2) User "A" logs in and starts PuTTY Portable
3) User "A" blocks his session..
4) User "B" logs in and starts PuTTY Portable
