Wiping with Eraser

Submitted by CraigS on June 8, 2019 - 11:08am

I tried to wipe free space with Eraser.

Information:
Statistics:
Erased area = 0 bytes
Cluster tips = 0 bytes
Data written = 0 bytes
Write time = 0.00 s
Failures:
Error: Erasing the Free Space of a drive requires elevation
Error: Erasing the Free Space of a drive requires elevation

What does that mean? I already have administrative privileges on Windows 10.

GPG usage?

Submitted by CraigS on May 1, 2019 - 10:19pm

I have reason to think that I have GPG properly installed as a portable app. However, it does not appear in the Apps list. What am I not understanding?

Note: I want to use it manually.

Eraser Drop didn't install correctly - Something strange happened after the install

Submitted by CryptoCoin on March 31, 2019 - 10:43pm

I installed Eraser Drop and after it finished installing, I didn't receive any type of error at all. In fact,I believe my memory serves correctly and a message said after it finished installing that it completed the installation (or something to that affect).

McAfee Stinger Portable 12.1.0.3034 installs Real Protect on host

Submitted by seusman101 on February 14, 2019 - 12:08pm

Yesterday morning I ran McAfee Stinger Portable 12.1.0.3034 from my flash drive to scan my desktop machine and today I see mfevtps.exe running on my desktop machine. It appears this version of Stinger is not truly a portable-app and installs McAfee's Real Protect - "a real-time behavior detection technology that monitors suspicious activity on an endpoint." Is there a way to fix this so nothing is installed on the host?

Veracrypt 1.23 Hotfix 2 doesn't work

Submitted by sosolala on January 23, 2019 - 9:08am

Dear All,

I have the same issue (but with the above version) PClough described on July 31, 2018:
""After updating and launching the new version, it refuses to load and tells me that an old version of the Veracrypt driver is already running (which was not the case according to task manager). "" At my side, it says an "incompatible" driver is already running.

A second pop-up window claims this might be a windows issue and rebooting might help. I does not!
