VeraCrypt Portable and vault read/write performance when sharing a USB drive

Submitted by joetron2030 on August 17, 2020 - 4:22pm

Hey, all. I tried to search the forums for a previous discussion about this and didn't see anything that seemed relevant.

What kind of performance hit (if any) could I expect if I opt to run VeraCrypt Portable off the same portable USB drive as the location of the vault itself? Just curious to know if read/write performance would be significantly better if VC were installed on each system instead.

If this has come up before, a pointer to the topic would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

KeepassXC does not start

Submitted by NiMhurchu on July 23, 2020 - 9:47am

After the upgrade to 2.6.0 via the PortableApps Platform, KeepassXC does not start any more.
The Windows' spinning circle appears for a short time, but other than that, nothing happens.
In the task manager, KeepassXC is shortly visible, then disappears.

Unable to auto-update from KeePass Pro v2.44 to v2.45

Submitted by VivPortApps on May 11, 2020 - 1:06pm

Is anyone else having problems to get the latest KeePass Pro version v2.45 via the PortableApps Platform Update ?

I've installed version v2.44 at the following path on a USB-Stick: S:\PortableApps\PortableApps\KeePassProPortable

The ‘Check For Updates’ function does not trigger any downloads. I'm getting the message that ‘All portable apps are up to date’.

Keepass 1.38 auto lock deactivated

Submitted by powerkutte on May 5, 2020 - 2:44am

Hi there,

the old default setting was "lock workstation afer 600seconds" or something like that.

Over the time that default setting was changed without informing the users, so some users may still expect the app to lock itself when leaving the workstation

my suggestion would be to change that default setting back to auto-lock

GPGShutdown complains about non-portable Firefox

Submitted by Philippe23 on January 2, 2020 - 8:03pm

I have Portable Thunderbird (60.9.1) installed with GPG Portable (2.2.19) installed into the ...\App\gpg\ subfolder of Thunderbird Portable.

This is somewhat recent, perhaps the last month or so.

Dialog looks like:

New Key import problem, not sure if it is enigmail or gpg problem

Submitted by crollinsphoto on December 9, 2019 - 3:43pm

The new ECC cv and ed 25519 keys I created with Kleopatra work fine in my laptop but when using portable thunderbird with the portable gpg installed, those new keys are not being imported. There is no error or anything, they don't get imported and nothing else happens. Is it something I am doing or something wrong in the portable of something? Is there something I need to do that I am not doing?

Thank you.
