Audacity: recording OmniPage text "readings"

Submitted by rustyriley on February 8, 2009 - 3:49am

Hi, has anyone tried recording text "readings" from OmniPage -- I have OmniPage 16 standard, and I'd like to record "readings" from a number of text/Word documents as audio files. Have an Acer 5520 notebook -- not sure if Audacity can record from this, and not sure how to check.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Curious if anyone has tried it, and got it to work.

Submitted by Master_tarquin on January 17, 2009 - 11:43am

Hi I have recently downloaded Audacity to my stick. As i saw on the web a long time ago, that’s what the program is good for. To make some snippets of Mp3s to have as Ringtones. Well i thought i did. I discovered I had only copied them. Can anyone tell me. What I am doing wrong.

Thanks

AdditionalParameters not working in VLCPortable.nsi

Submitted by rpmohn on December 30, 2008 - 10:57am

The AdditionalParameters var set in VLCPortable.ini doesn't seem to work. I checked the VLCPortable.nsi file and the var is set, but never used. I believe it should be passed at the end of the $EXECSTRING (on lines 188 & 192 of my .nsi file). Haven't looked into how to compile .nsi files yet so could someone please fix and post?

Thanks! -Ross

VLC: launching ONLY the portable video player application

Submitted by chicagobob on December 7, 2008 - 12:37pm

Hello,

Who is the guru at keeping applications from the host computer from launching?

Firefox Portable is great, but it looses its effectiveness when it uses applications on the host computer to play a video found on the web.

I have tried to get VLC or M-player to be the ONLY video player to launch for applications found on the web with FireFox portable, but I have not been able to achieve this.

I have worked sucessfully to get H264 files to launch, but all other files are trying to launch the default player on the host computer's hard drive.
