Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on April 28, 2006 - 4:31pm

Sometimes when I'm using Portable VLC, and surfing the web at the same time, the music playing skips/lags as if it were playing a scratched cd instead of normal music files I have on my pc...

not sure whats up with it there. I switched to WMP for a bit to see if it occured in that also and it didn't...

Maybe something to do with my usb stick?

VLC: Skin problem

Submitted by boxsterh on April 27, 2006 - 9:39pm

I'm trying to make use of skins, but can't seem to do it. I've followed the directions on the VLC page, and I get nothing except the default Skins2 skin. What am I doing wrong?
****EDIT****
I've since found that the problem seems to be isolated to the iPod skin that is available.

VLC Player has an infected file

Hi. I always check this site for new goodies and today I found PortableClamWin AV - a virus scanner. I ran it on my flash stick with all the neat portable software on it and it found a virus. Here is the entry that Clamwin AV produced:

E:\PortableVLC\vlc\plugins\libmux_ps_plugin.dll: Trojan.Xombe.HTTP.A FOUND
-- summary --
Known viruses: 51919
Engine version: 0.88.1
Scanned directories: 44
Scanned files: 235
Infected files: 1

I just wanted to let you all know. What is this plugin responsible for? Can I remove it, or do I need to replace it? Thanks in advance.

VLC does not save SKIN

Submitted by sylvio2000 on April 18, 2006 - 9:49am

Some time ago I tried the "normal" VLC. I like the "Skins 2" interface, bur everytime I started VLC the Standard-Skin (wxWidgets) was set.
Now I tried the new portable VLC, but there is the same problem (I know you are not the developer of VLC Wink )
Is it possible to change the default skin in VLC ?

VLC Portable Vs Regular VLC

Submitted by Maineman on April 15, 2006 - 11:27pm

I have had VLC installed on my USB drive for quite some time, having downloaded and installed the regular version. It has seemed to work well and I have had no problems. What is the difference between Portable VLC and the regular version I have installed? Will I benefit from deleting the version I have on my flash drive now and installing the portable version?

Thanks!!!
