Firefox Portable

I noticed today that the items in the History menu "back", "forward", and "home" are missing. I haven't the slightest idea if they were missing before. I just know it happened since I upgraded to version 4.

I am running FF portable on Windows XP for 3 years now. I upgraded to FF 4.0 some days ago and experience hangs when showing PDFs or downloading files.

FF just hangs and never comes back, I have to kill the process.

I tried the following to get rid of the problem, without any success.

1. Run FF with an new data-directory
2. Run FF in safe-mode
3. Run FF from a network share
4. Run FF from a local drive

The problem is, that I cannot reproduce this every time.

Ever since I upgraded to FF4, I notice at times I load FF4 and all my bookmarks are missing/gone and so are my addons. I then reload FF4 a few times and they appear again.

What causes this and how can I stop it from happening?

I had a little issue come up when I installed one of the beta (test) versions of Firefox 4. I'm running all apps installed locally in C:\PortableApps on my hard drive and whenever I closed the test/beta version of Firefox, OpenOffice Portable would open. I assumed it was a bug and would be fixed in the Firefox final release. Firefox 3 never did this. When the final came out, I made a copy for obvious reasons, renamed it, leaving it zipped right beside Firefox 3 and the updated 3 to 4 with the final release. After updating 3 to 4, the issue resumed in Firefox 4 final.

for example when I download something firefox asks me where I want to save it, and the default folder it ask first is the downloads folder inside my flashdrive. Is there a way to change that default location?

hello form 3.6.14 all portable version have problem in plug-in
especially on windows media
in fact we have the last wmp on pc
11 for win xp and 12 for win 7
if we make installation of firefox the original it work perfectly

but all portable version have problem they use media player 7 !!! that not exist on pc

and when we want to listen to radio they make a lot of time to open not like the original version or like old portable version

If I have an extension whose original XPI was not compatible with the current version of Firefox, but for whom there is a compatibility update available, this works just fine for the installed version of Firefox.

But for Firefox Portable, whenever I use it on a new machine, it seems that the compatibility update didn't travel with it, and I need to update extensions all over again.

Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

So I recently installed firefox portable to my Ironkey and I wanted to install shockwave, So I looked around and saw an instructions on how to do so.

I downloaded the latest shockwave player from the site, clicked run but it didn't let me choose where to install it, but it says on the instructions to install on X:/FirefoxPortable/Apps/firefox

So If anyone knows how I can solve this problem please tell me!

I can't find the location of the folder that FF Portable uses to store temporary files. There's no folder on the thumbdrive, so is it on the computer I've got the drive plugged in to?

yes, I know, I should be going to 4.0 but there are a couple of add-ons I can't do without that don't work under 4.0 yet - so I'm sticking with 3.6.xx for the moment.

now, I know I can update to 3.6.16 by going Help > Check for Updates, but should I wait until a PortableApps version is released instead?

From memory, these days it should be ok to let Firefox update to 3.6.16, but I just wanted to be sure (and maybe wait a couple of extra days if a PortableApps release is around the corner?)
