"Firefox is already running..."

Submitted by navigatr85 on February 23, 2011 - 9:22pm

I saw, in some old threads on this forum, that a few people were having a problem in which they received the message:

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."

I was having this problem too. At first, I couldn't figure it out, but then I did figure it out later. So I'd like to share what I found.

Some questions about using firefox to solve my purpose of autorun CD

Submitted by ishanjain on February 13, 2011 - 8:12am

I am required to create an autorun CD for my college conference to be distributed to the researchers who attended it. This CD when inserted in should first show an intro movie and after that 2-3 pages of description about the conference and then finally should put the control to an interface which can categorize, sort and search the papers available in PDF files.

Now out of many options i am considering to accomplish this, 1 way i thought of it was to fire up the portable firefox and create all the pages in HTML/javascipt and provide a nice interface for all of it.

Then, the crash report "crash" too when I try to send it. (Seems that the Gmail and Meebo tabs have problems to load properly too).

Modifying and adding things - legality?

Submitted by 0ptriX on February 4, 2011 - 2:47pm

Hello all,

I have a university project in which I have to investigate creating my university's own flavour of Firefox, which won't be used or distributed to anyone other than a specific student group. I'm quite interested in using Firefox Portable, however after some looking around it looks as if others have wanted to change things such as splash screens, and they've run into issues in terms of legality.
