Firefox locking drive it isn't on

This didn't use to be a problem after I switched from WinXP to Win7, but in the last couple of months, I've started having difficulty ejecting my portable drive (HDD based, rather than flash). I have Win7 x64, so I can't use Unlocker (doesn't have a Win7 x64 version yet), and I just around to finding and trying LockHunter this week.

When I run LockHunter, it says that FireFoxPortable is the application locking the drive, but the weird thing, it doesn't run from that drive! It used to, but it doesn't any more.

Trying to rid ask.com, Keyword.url won't stay changed

Submitted by foxcole on June 15, 2010 - 2:58pm

I am trying to get rid of ask.com -- it comes up as a default page when a URL is not found, to tell me the URL is not found. Plenty of advice all over the Internet suggests editing about:config in a standard install of Firefox and changing the keyword.url value.

Well, I've tried pasting in http://www.google.com/search?q= and I've tried "Reset" on keyword.url, but neither one sticks. Whether or not I restart the browser, as soon as I type in an invalid URL, that cursed ask.com shows up again.

Upgrading to Flash Player 10.1 Final in Portable Firefox

Submitted by honem on June 14, 2010 - 1:04pm

Hi guys I'm kinda new here so if this post belongs in some other forums please move it.

For the last few days I've been trying to find a way to upgrade my Flash Player to 10.1 Final. There's a bad security vulnerability that the update to 10.1 final would help protect me against.

Thought I would make a post about it detailing where to find them , mirrors and how to install them.

Drive contains more the one type of content?

Submitted by PerDeSi on June 11, 2010 - 11:09pm

Hi,

I have installed FFP on usb, works great but when i plug it in, the generic windows box opens and states: "This disk or device contains more than one type of content" "What do you want Windows to do?" then it lists how you can open them (the top one is FFP.exe).

Anyway to disable this? I want FFP to open up automatically to go to a certain site, i don't want this box to show up?

Is there a way to remove Run Locally Dialog box.

Please help me to remove below dialog box when FFP run on a CD-ROM. I need to compile multimedia application with your FFP into a CD-ROM. (I think This dialog box is disturbing users.)

Bug that loses Bookmarks

Submitted by Tony_B on June 9, 2010 - 7:12am

Hi,
I've FireFox set up as my default web browser. When I get an email with a hyperlink, and click that link to open FireFox, when it opens up, I don't see my bookmarks and it doesn't fill in any passwords for me. I have to close and re-open FireFox the normal way to get these.

Cheers,

Tony

Another instance of Firefox is already running

Submitted by ppps on June 9, 2010 - 3:16am

I need to run 2 separate instances of Firefox portable, because I need to login to the same online app with 2 different accounts. I have tried the addon cookiepie to manage per-tab cookies, but it has unbearable side effects.

So I installed 2 instances of firefox portable, but when I launch the 2nd instance, I get this message. What is the work around?

FFP on CD with PDF Support

Submitted by knolle on June 7, 2010 - 12:00pm

Hi folks,

I tried to launch a project on CD with FFP, a HTML-Site as navigation and the corresponding PDF-Files for all the data.

How to I get the FFP to open .pdf in a local (means on CD) portable PDF-Reader such as foxit or sumatra...??

On my PC it works well, but as soon as I switch the computer, it says that it cannot find the path for the supporting program...

Thanks,

Knolle
