Foxmarks won't sync and other bookmarks issues

Submitted by Amalas on August 21, 2008 - 11:27am

At first I thought I was having a Foxmarks issue, but now I think I'm having general bookmark problems.

If I bookmark a page and just add it to the general default folder, it shows up in the Bookmarks dropdown, but it does not show up in Bookmarks --> Organize Bookmarks.

When I bookmark a page and choose the folder, it lists folders that aren't actually available anywhere else.

Regarding Foxmarks, I have tried to do a "Force overwrite of local bookmarks" but no bookmarks are added even though there are no errors in my Foxmarks log.

Problems with staying logged in to forums

Hi All,

Recently, I'm having problems logging into and staying logged in to forums.

It started with the mozillazine forum which I could not see the "confirmation code" in FFP3.0.1 and only sometimes in IE7.

After installing the flash player correctly it seemed to work, but only once.

Now I'm having similar problems with other forums;
- hydrogenaudio forum it struggled to log in.
- freecommander forum does not stay logged in.
- mozillazine forum cannot log in.

trojan win32/FaveAv.CX detected by antivirus app in 2.0.0.15,

Submitted by ron7000 on August 20, 2008 - 8:51pm

my antivirus program at work today detected the trojan win32/FaveAv.CX
in the installer program Firefox_Portable_2.0.0.15_en-us.paf.exe
and in the executable that's created or extracted by the installer.
It also happened to 3 others.
It was detected by computer associates etrust InoculateIT with signature 31.6.6037
on client version 6 and version 7.

I've scanned the Firefox_Portable_2.0.0.16_en-us.paf.exe and that comes up clean.

What's the deal? Is there really a trojan in it or is it a false alarm?

Firefox Firewalls

Submitted by pearce007 on August 20, 2008 - 6:54am

Could someone please help me. I have been able to download 'winzip' and 'winrar' files whilst in work for the last 6 months, now all of a sudden the IT dept have noticed and stopped any files larger than 10mb from being downloaded. A friend of mine advised that if I were to run Firefox portable on my usb drive that this should bypass the 10mb firewall rule, I have tried doing this and everything goes fine until I try connecting to the internet when running Firefox of my USB key, it keeps timing out, are there any other solutions I could use. Thanks in advance for any replies.
