Can't run from work?

Submitted by Hamons on August 4, 2008 - 6:01pm

I have tried to run Firefox portable apps at work -- but can't seem to get it ot work. Other portable apps do work -- but not Firefox? DO you think our network has blocked it somewhow?

Thunderbird works just fine.

Is there any way to get this to work?

Different versions of FFP??

Submitted by getco on August 4, 2008 - 12:46pm

When I open a link from Outlook Express or any other application calling FFP for that matter - it opens some other version of FFP - it's the same version, but has different addons, etc. and the history is different for both. So it's like the same FFP but with slight variations? Has anyone experienced this?

FoxyProxy on FFP 3

I know that this is a little off-topic, but I need some help.
I'll start saying that i can't access the FoxyProxy support, because my network admin block the access to any url that contains the word proxy (among others) on it.
That said, some time ago, I read a topic here where someone told that FoxyProxy could be set to identify different networks so it can automatically change between proxy settings.
So, what I need to know is how I can set it to identify my current network so it can change between the two proxy server we use, one in each bulding.

Updating to Firefox 3

Submitted by getco on August 3, 2008 - 5:44am

I have searched for this but couldn't find the answer I need. So if it has been posted before - my apologies.

The questions - I'm running on FFP2.0.0.16:

1. Do I update by simply downloading the FFP3 file and installing it on top of FFP2 and it will get all my settings/profile/etc. from the old version or I'll have to manually remove FFP2, then install FFP3, then do all my settings again?

2. If I don't like FFP3 can I switch back to FFP2 without losing my settings, profile, etc.?

Thank you.

Does PortableFirefox write any data to C:?

When I run PortableFirefox, does it write any cookies, cache, bookmarks, password etc anywhere on C: , e.g. users/Appdata folder?

Or is all activity within PortableFirefox stored inside its own folder?

And where is the PortableFirefox v3 cache located? I cannot see it anywhere inside the PoretableFirefox folder.

Thank you
